Do you mean that, if you run DDU without going into Safe Mode and you just reboot, then DDU fails to remove those specific traces of the driver that are causing the problem for you? Running it in Safe Mode is optional; these days it is pretty much always OK to ignore that warning about running it in Safe Mode.

They work for me, but I don't keep them on my Desktop, as there's several other places where they can be a lot more convenient. I use ExplorerPatcher's ability to bring back the Windows 10 taskbar, which allows me to add toolbars to my taskbar.

I don't think this is Dell's fault since everyone gets the Intel driver forced down their throats regardless of what brand of machine one has, nVidia drivers don't have this problem. So it's Intel I think as I even gotten forced Intel drivers as well.

Time to shelve the 630 then. I moved from the 620 to the Iris Xe just before the end of 2020, or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Landfill. 😂

There was another command when Windows Beta Insiders had a build that was missing the Check for Updates button which is "USOClient StartInteractiveScan" from KB5029352 Windows 11 Insider Beta 22621.2199 and 22631.2199 - Aug. 18 which actually does the updates checking as well.

I prefer the manual click. It allows me to see what's happening in Windows Update, i.e. before I decide how I want to proceed next.

@hdmi - I believed I tried it once and I thought DDU keeps saying it's better to do it in Safe Mode. I'll try it some other time.

Well, my waiting and you wanting to do the manual click is almost the same. I mean I will forget about using the shortcut, I use a text file that is always opened instead and just copy and paste which is faster as it's just ctrl-c and ctrl-v after highlighting with a keyboard.

Yes, it still keeps saying it after all those years, but in the vast majority of cases these days it should be OK to just ignore it.

Not really. Looking at what is happening in Windows Update before deciding whether to click on Check for updates is still usually very fast, but TBH the same cannot be said about waiting up to 30 minutes.

Do what you want, but I still have no idea what you mean when you say they don't work. Shortcuts on a Toolbar are always only one click away (no double-click). For maximum convenience you could even decide to put a USOClient.exe StartInteractiveScan shortcut right next to the explorer.exe ms-settings:windowsupdate one, actually. (I take it a step further by automating my Toolbar with a little script I wrote; it dynamically changes the contents of the Toolbar.)

Yes, check for updates is very fast and thanks for the pointer on how to skip doing the right click, settings, Windows Update before actually getting to that screen.

What I meant is my system is usually very busy as I run a lot of things already as is... Here is what it looks like now...

Nah. If you have 20/20 vision and you sit at a distance of not much farther than one and a half feet, everything that is shown on my taskbar is still very comfortably visible on a 15″ screen at 4K 3840×2160 display resolution with the Scale (in Windows Settings | System | Display) set to 150%.

That's because before today, my system is also CPU thermal throttling and my keyboard is also still very hot at 50C or so. Not to mention, I have a 13 year backlog of things to do which is why I am not in a rush to do updates and stuff like that, 30 minutes is nothing. No one is talking about it being visible or not as that's a different issue altogether. I haven't been active on this site for 7 months so lots of catching up to do.

This release breaks my Monitor Refresh rate to a maximum of 60Hz, had to go back to 32.0.101.5768 to regain 100Hz refresh.
