I did one final test for my E2600 - I obtained just the drivers (not the Intel installer package) from Station drivers and manually installed the driver for my Killer E2600 NIC - and the same symptoms occurred.

It works perfectly fine with drivers from June 2022 and older, and with the stock Microsoft driver that comes with Windows. Anything newer and the system locks up.

Even with no other Killer software installed.

The only thing I can think of is that I have the NIC (connection) customized with custom DNS info, and a few other optimizations. But my NIC does not like these drivers from Intel at all.

I'm going to try the same thing with the E3100G this weekend and see if it exhibits the same thing.

EDIT: Now that I think on it some more, it's not the customization of my connection either - because it was doing this on a vanilla install of Windows 11 that I did 3 weeks ago, immediately after install and before I had customized a single thing.

I'm loathe to try this package out as every one before this that came out this year breaks my computer.

But, I just cleanly installed this past weekend, so I may try again.

Since I already extensively tested the last build, I'll only test and see if it works or not - not gonna try to force it if it breaks everything, I'll just revert to what I have installed now, report back that it is still broken, and call it a day.

I suspect it is gonna fail, though.

For a while I was also using the Killer Intelligence Center, but with this latest Performance Suite version the KIC doesn't work... it's happened with some previous versions as well. So I nixed the KIC completely.

Since last version and some random Windows Update in Windows 11, my PC is able to connect to 5GHz network directly at boot and works fine throughout the time it's on. Same with this newer version as well. Guess Intel and Microsoft found a way to fix it for me :D!

I'm gonna try this new build, but I'm still having issues installing anything newer than what I can get from the MSI site.

Maybe one day they'll get it figured out.

This time, though, I'm gonna re-enable all of the Killer services, then uninstall the current package I have, and make sure I clean it thoroughly from my computer, and then give the new package a go. I'll add in an extra step, though, to disable all of the killer NICs too, and see if that makes a difference.

I hope it works. But, I expect it to also fail.

While choosing custom install, I chose not to install any killer software features and only went with drivers for hardware in the selection window. Did you try that?

I've had no luck installing anything newer than what MSI offers, it breaks my system's Ethernet every time.

I'll try this one now, see if that chain has finally broken, or if it dies.

Wish me luck!

Sadly, it still breaks on my computer.

So, two updates in two days:
The only changes are 23.20.0.4 for Intel® Killer™ 1550, AX1650, AX1675, AX 1690 (which I already had), and for those who use it, 3.1523.1205.1 for Killer Networking Software.

So, I just cleanly installed Windows 11 on my system. And this is what I found.

My system refuses to accept an Intel (Killer) drivers packaged as 3x.xx - but the older 3.xxxx drivers install fine. The latest of those is 3.1122.1105, and I can now reliably find older versions of this chain of drivers from Intel's site as well, the newest being 3.1122.814. But anything such as 31.xxx, 32.xxx, etc. will simply not work - the drivers get installed and both NICs (E2600, E3100G) stop working, though I'm no longer getting blue screens.

Oh well.

Oh well.

This just gets better.

No Killer software installed. Only drivers, and only the older 3.XXXX drivers, from MSI.

With my current setup, using wired, I'm only getting half my normal gigabit speeds. Since this is a new install, I decided to go for broke, and force uninstalled both NICs, telling Windows to attempt to remove the (Killer) drivers, and then verifying this was the case (before rebooting) by also using RAPR to force remove the drivers.

Upon reboot, my drivers are now stock Windows Drivers:

Screenshot 2024-05-01 113701.png

And my speeds are back up to snuff.

Go figure lol.
