Still on Macrium Reflect Home v8.1.8325 here.

Just checked for updates (I always have automatic update checks turned off) and it's still offering v8.1.8595 - 25th June 2025. The one with the restore 'bug'.

I'll wait until a 'fixed' version is (hopefully) available.

Hmm.. a week has passed and still no update for 8.1 Home.

Wonder why it is taking so long? Surely it must be almost (if not exactly) the same fix as has been provided for LTSC?

Someone at the Macrium forum has had the same thought I've been having:

Error on Restore using .8595 boot media.

Update to subscription X? Not going to happen... not for me, anyway.

And mine doesn't try to get me to update every time I run an image. For now. Probably because I have update checks turned off.

Is this free Reflect 8.1 capable of imaging my Windows 10 Pro PC and then restoring that image to a brand new mini-pc that has the hardware specs to qualify for a Windows 11 upgrade (since it came win 11 Pro) ?

Welcome to Eleven Forum.

Reflect Free is v8.0, the free version was retired before v8.1 was released.

The paid for versions of Reflect include the Premium feature 'ReDeploy' for restoring to dissimilar hardware.

However, Windows itself can usually sort out the drivers required when it's restored to different hardware. I used Reflect Free to move Windows 10 from an unsupported device to System One in my specs below so that it would qualify for the Windows 11 upgrade. Worked well, without needing ReDeploy.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.

If your mini has a license for Win 11 I would start it up and get the license registered on MS servers. Take an image backup of this new machine with license activated. Then overlay the C: drive (win 11) with your old Win 10 C: Drive. If it doesn't boot use the Macrium Boot fix from your USB Macrium thumbdrive. Once it boots, as Bree says, WIndows does a really good job getting drivers correct. Once running I would take another macrium image. Then check device manager for any drivers in distress. These need to be id'ed and fix / removed before trying the Win 11 upgrade. Once drivers are in order do the Win 11 upgrade.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.
First thing I did after this update release was to download a new installer which now incorporates this latest update.

Thank you for the update. I will also wait a day or two before updating although I can easily restore a Macrium image that I will make before updating like I did before the 'buggy' update and recreate my earlier USB stick rescue media if needed.

Has anyone who actually had this problem tested this fix?
I never noticed the problem, so there is no point in me testing it.

Other than getting the weird msg, it was never really a problem.... the restore always completed successfully.
