Let's install Windows 11 on incompatible hardware

I don't think MS is too concerned about the Incompatibles so much - their thing is more the incompatibility of the OS features that are being developed - which will break on the Incompatibles - and the outcry. I think Win 11 will retain the registry / appraiserres bypasses - MS has a disclaimer so no worries.

Yes. My script is used instead in order to set variables for use by my other scripts.

All the best,

@Try3 , care to share your script, it's functionality, pros and cons.....

Thanks and best regards!

PS: Is it similar to a MSG Toolkit?

Hmmm ... I see MSG Toolkit has become quite a big thing it was as I recall just a script was from the old MDL days... never used it but apparently was a good "strip-down" tool.. or something?

After the upgrade to 22H2 I noticed that clicking on the network icon doesn't show the available wireless networks, it tries to popup the list at the first click but then fails. More clicks do nothing. This is with the taskbar icons ungrouped using Explorer Patcher (Windows 10 mode). If I group the icons (Windows 11 mode), the network icon works as expected. Probably a bug which hopefully will be fixed on the next update.

I didn't need to mess with the appraisserres.dll file so reckon my bypass registry entries do the job.

You must change the file name to appraiserres.dll (without the .txt extension) for the hack to work. Change your settings to show hidden files and also show extensions of known types, otherwise you cannot change the extension, you can only change the name.

Your initial Windows 11 language was English UK, so you cannot upgrade using the English US ISO. To keep both your apps and your data you must download the English UK ISO and start setup from there. If I remember correctly it is listed as English International.

Just a guess. I think it doesn't like your appraiserres.dll file. Simple test you can try, open the original dll file with Notepad, delete the contents and Save it, make sure it's in the Sources folder when you're done if you moved it. Too many folks are creating appraiserres.dll files and modifying the file when it's three simple steps.

You could do it the easy way, have Rufus do it for you.
This is what it does in the sources folder:

appraiserres.dll Application extension 0 KB
