Solved Lifetime license for Ms Office 2021 Professional is back on ghacks for $49.99


I can't say it's the gospel because I haven't tried it, but from what I've read on the MS forum if you install Office 2021 on a second PC, the first PC will deactivate automatically, so you may as well uninstall it from the first PC.

It is a good deal and you're always up to date. That said, the $99 Family plan allows up to 6 users (vs one with Personal) with each having their own 1TB OneDrive account. But if you don't plan on sharing, the Personal plan is cheaper as they're the same package (minus the sharing).

I think you misunderstand. With the install-able version of Office you get NO free onedrive storage. That comes only when using Ofc 365

External drive can fail, but cloud can not, it has at least two mirror backups for "free" plus file versioning. :smirk:

There is also a possible theft, damage by a fire or etc. I have 1TB icedrive lifetime, but onedrive would be nice, better than 15GB.

You have a point though, a cloud backup is great, as long as you can access to it, a physical backup is important too. :wink:

My personal vault is currently inaccessible within Windows, so much for storing the most important files there.

I installed it on my laptop kind of early in the morning, later that day I ended up having to buy a new laptop so I tried to move it to that system (same day) and it gave me a link to a page that told me to sign out on the first system and try to sign in on the second, but it wouldn't work so it gave me a phone number to call Microsoft, I explained and she said it's fine and walked me through switching systems.

Yeah, but OneDrive is cloud and can be accessed from anywhere. It's why I actually DON'T carry external drives with me anymore ;-)

I left my old Office 2007 [32 bit] onboard so I could run comparative tests and, I believe as a consequence of this, my Office 2021 was installed as a 32 bit application.

I could be wrong but I don't think you can have both a 32 and 64-bit version of Office installed. I have Office 365 installed in 64-bit. When I went to install my copies of Project Pro 2021 and Visio Pro 2021, the installer said it needed to install in 64-bit, same as Office.

Yes, that's what the MS documentation said and is why, I believe, my installation was forced to be 32 bit.
I just wanted to check that other people really were getting 64 bit installations and you've confirmed that so thanks.
At the very end of my list of tests will be [optional] uninstalling Office 97 remnants & Office 2007 then reinstalling Office 2021.
The computer I've put it on is normally used for non-Office jobs so I might just hang on with both versions on it and delay any decisions until something forces me to clean re-install Windows [10/11] on it.

When you install Office 2021 you get a drop-down box to choose your version. There are entries for standard default (2 identical ones!), 32-bit and 64-bit and I chose 64-bit. Seem to remember with Office 2016 that unless you took special action you got 32-bit by default.
