Windows 10 Professionnel 64-bit
Hello everyone :-)
I've been a Lotus 123 user since 1984 and have never found a better spreadsheet for my applications, mostly because of the simplicity of this program's macro commands.
However, I encounter some small problems that I did not have with Windows 7 (!)
I would therefore be happy to find a correspondent who still uses Lotus 123.
Perhaps this is the case among the members of this forum...
Thank you for your help

Wow.. Lotus 123.. that's an old product but a good one.

My first thought is you may have to run it in a VM with an OS that it works best with

BTW,, Hi and welcome to the forum.. hope you have a great day
Jeff

I wish my old microsoft games that ran on 7 would run on 10 and 11 but they have glitches. Progress doesn't always move in the direction we prefer. I think 7 was the best windows ever released. I miss it.

Have you gone straight from Win 7 to 11?
I seem to recall issues with Lotus on W10 so those issues would conceivably still be present in Win 11. Long time since I've used Lotus though and all could be well now

* EDIT* I see from your sig you are running W10 pro, apologies

Thank you for this warm welcome! :-)

It is one of the latest versions of Lotus 123 (9.6) which is installed on my PC with W10 64 bits.
My first idea would be to find a Lotus 123 user and share the problem with knowledge of this software.
To be very precise, for example when I am working on a 123 file, the macro commands are not usable because they close the file.

The idea of a VM seems interesting to me.
As you seem to have this knowledge, could you guide me? I'm on Windows 10 64 bit and Lotus 123 works fine on Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8. Thanks in advance

Indeed, everything worked perfectly under W7.
I went from 7 to 8, then from 8 to 10. Now, I hesitate with W11 because I don't see the point yet.
I must specify that my occupations are mainly associative with essentially standard office software.

There are lots of members that are good at using VM's,. If you have access to a copy of Win 7 that might fix all of your issues. You can run that in the VM and run Lotus in that

If you're running the Millenium Edition it should run well on Windows 10. I see no reason to go to Windows 11. My opinion.

I kept the official version of W7 with its key.
I ask for nothing more than a little help in choosing the program that will allow me to install this VM.
Do you have a suggestion ?

If you're on W10 Pro then turn on Hyper V in turn on additional features then have a search in the top right of the forum for installing virtual machines, in fact I'll do it.......

I intend to install Lotus SmartSuite 9.8 on my Win11, as soon as I find it that is. It did work on Win10 back about Version 1803.

I'm still using Lotus 123. Apart from a few very minor issues it has been fine all the way from Win 98 to Win 11 Pro. I must have had a reason to be running it in Admin mode but can't now recollect it. Anyway, try running 123w.exe As Administrator.

If you find you still need to run an OS in a VM you might want to take a look at the free version of VMWare Workstation as a Hyper-V alternative.

Hello everyone :-)
I've been a Lotus 123 user since 1984 and have never found a better spreadsheet for my applications, mostly because of the simplicity of this program's macro commands.

Dommage.
On garde le contact pour nos pratiques ?
Bon après-midi
Cordialement
PhT

Hello JDLion40: I discover your message on this forum. I am also still a user of 123. I installed it on my 3 PCs (with Windows 10) including one in 64 bits. It works very well. I have version 9.8 the last one I managed to recover. I use it daily (even if I also have Excel for work) because I have kept the habit of keyboard commands that often allow to be faster than on Excel. The only flaw I find is that the scrolling mouse does not work. Too bad. Do we keep in touch for our practices? Good afternoon Kind regards Pht
I also use Lotus SmartSuite 9.8, have 9.7 on disc. I started with Lotus 1-2-3 on a work computer on MS-DOS 5 and put it on my home computer in '92. Back then the 3-button mouse mostly used the middle button with CAD programs like AutoCad when creating drawings. I don't think Lotus caught up with the scroll wheel over time. Pressing down on the wheel will click on the cell the pointer is on.

And No, I don't speak French, let www.duckduckgo.com do it for me.

When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.
