If you have downloaded the ISO and you’re using RUFUS to make the USB, it should only take minutes.

That's what VERIZON calls "Hi Speed DSL"... I used it for years until about 18-mo ago. It was very functional, albeit a bit slow

Those speeds are functional, I had those speeds for years. Basically 1.98 megabytes per second is OK in my opinion.
But have nothing to do with creating the RUFUS driven USB. What’s going on there?

I apologize for quoting you. I am trying to do my best to avoid quoting anyone because I realize (or believe) that everytime I do this a message gets sent to the person I am quoting and truth be told I'm very gunshy of any responses I get on this forum.

In as many times as I have tried, in only one time did my attempt result in a quicker response (on the order of about 45 min.)--and something else happened (internally, during the process) to mess up the 35 GB Thumb drive. No one will believe me, but noticing how my C-drive was allotted such a large space for the BitLocker problem this computer had at its inception made me wonder: Is there a way I can proceed with any sort of Windows install after having COMPLETELY reformatted the C-drive?

Rufus says it's a 64GB thumb drive. There isn't a 35GB thumb drive available anywhere to my knowladge, there is however a 32GB.
Are you sure you pointed Rufus to the correct drive? I thought the J: Drive was your external LaCie?

Jro, it isn't hard, mate. Grab a USB with the capacity of 8GB or over, point RUFUS to it, select the ISO and click the start button

If it's still really slow to create the Win11 install USB, like over 10 to 15min (max in my opinion) you either have a problem with the USB or your PC has more problems than we knew about.

Rufus is correct. It's a

(Was it you or Ghot that said nothing was written to disk until the process was completed?) drive.

Assuming my PC has more problems than we knew about, is there a way I can proceed with any sort of Windows install after having COMPLETELY reformatted the C-drive?

@jro11 I have never seen an instance where I wished more that I could get my hands on someone else's system. I would happily donate my time and effort. I don't think I've ever followed a more tedious situation and I feel for you.

Reading the USB as 58Gb is fine. RUFUS formats/wipes the USB anyway. It should also rename the USB

Earlier (2 weeks, 4 weeks, 2 months?...ago) I relocated the MS "Known Folders" away from their original location. They then relocated on their own, in duplicate places, and now, just where you noticed. Are you in the US?
