EaseUS ToDo Backup. This time, restore is telling me to remove the boot partition on the C: drive. How to do? Win 11 is excellent at protecting me from myself.

That shouldn't be happening, unless something is really weird.
It would help if you could post a screen shot of Disk Management.


To post a screenshot on this forum...​

1. Take the screenshot, (or camera pic), edit it as desired, save to your desktop as .png or .jpg (max. size = 2MB)
2. Left click in your post, where you want to place the screenshot.
3. Click the Attach Files button at lower left, browse to your pic and click Insert.
4. After clicking Insert, I usually choose the Thumbnail (smaller) option, or the Full Image (larger) option.

If the "new" PrtSc key function is not to your liking... here is how to set it back to it's classic function...

EaseUS wouldn't be telling you to remove the boot partition unless something is really weird, or broken... etc.
That's NOT normal behavior for backup software.

This is why we need to see the Disk Management screen shot.
We don't want to tell you to remove it without more information.

At what stage of the restore is the program telling you to remove the boot partition on the C: Drive?

What are the exact words it is using to tell you to do this? Is it exactly as you typed it?

“remove the boot partition on the C: drive”

Is that all it says?

Is the OP trying to restore the boot drive that Windows is currently using? That would explain this. If the OP wants to restore the boot drive then he will have to boot from the recovery media on a flash drive and do it from there.

Most likely.

My observation is though; Tony is having to restore because he has a problem with the state of the current OS.
If he was to agree to “delete the boot drive” he may end up with nothing if the restore fails.

I just wanted to know at what stage this was asked, if not during a recovery media state then absolutely, I agree with you, MisterEd

Thank you for your comments, guys. I have tried the Reboot option. The process continues for a bit but then stops and the machine freezes; no touchpad response. I need to turn the computer off and restart with no changes.

I do have an emergency USB flash drive. I can get into the BIOS and select the Boot Sequence to start with the flash drive, but for a reason I don't understand but it ends up booting from C: instead.

I'd recommend you use either the free version of Macrium Reflect or Hasleo Backup Suite.

Sounds to me like the flash drive is not being recognized as a Boot drive. Try remaking the emergency boot flash drive.
