Yes my free v7 copies got updated last week, painless and quick.

I prefer #7 for one simple reason. I do a weekly image and name them by the number of week from 1 - 5. The following month I first delete the previous months image and then do the backup.

If it is an image that I want to keep for some time I will give it an appropriate name. example "First windows 11"

So how does V8 impact on this? Its scheduling feature is unchanged.

My needs are modest. I do not use scheduling.

I use windows Task scheduler to start Macrium every week on Wednesday at 7.30 pm. I will then proceed with the imaging and give the number of the week. Giving a simple name to the image appears complicated in version 8.

I have used this strategy to name to backup with the number of the week way back when I was using Acronis.

My needs are even more modest ... I found scheduled backups unnecessary - so I resorted to manual as-and-when - my apps are backed up to Azure through Visual Studio - so just my OS needs backing up when major changes occur.

I have been using PC's since the original PC1, and my very 1st OS image copy was made after installing the Win 11 preview with MR. Since then I have done about 10 restores, and have extracted some individual files from the copy.

The strategy that I am experimenting with, using MR8 HE, is to start with a full image copy and do scheduled weekly incremental backups on Mondays. The retention rules are 2 Full and 8 Incremental. This provides coverage for the 2nd Tuesday Windows updates. The cycle would be restarted with any major changes. A base copy from the clean install of Win 11 has also been saved.

I have always made data backups using a variety of automated and semi-automated facilities.

You can still give the image any name you want in v8. The only complication is that Reflect prefixes it with the IMAGEID by default. You can turn that off when setting up an image backup in Advanced Options.
