I am trying without putting a space after the emoji - but made no difference. Can't place cursor after emoji! Forget the highlight thing. If I try to click after the emoji it just highlights the emoji

When the emoji is the last item of a post it can be difficult to place the cursor after it. Try this:

click on the emoji and it becomes selected, as if ready to delete. Then just press the right arrow key.

Strange.

Can't imagine why you aren't being able to click after the emoji. Maybe someone smarter than I will know why. Do you have the formatting tool highlighted?

Are you using a mouse or touchpad? Don't ask if this makes a difference cause I am unsure if it would. Just another thought that someone may know why to. Maybe Bree's suggestion will work for you

It seems to be browser dependent. The cursor is after the emoji immediately after you insert one. But if the emoji is the last item in your post, then in Firefox if you click anywhere before it you can never place the cursor after it again. In Edge there is no such problem.

Note that @Hazel123's specs say that her browser is Firefox, as is mine.

This may be one for @z3r010 to sort out.

Type something, then insert emoji... :) , click the down arrow...

... keep typing...

It's definitely something in Firefox..., there's something amiss with the emoji handler and whatever language they're scripting in these days..., Rust or whatever the heck it is... beyond that, I haven't a clue! Sorry!

EDIT: I don't know if the console would hold any clues, probably not! Maybe somebody a lot smarter than me could check it out!

Click on the emoji, which will blur it, then use your right arrow key to get on the other side of it! That's what made it :woozy:

All these posts about for and against MS account just do not get the blinking point.

There is a place for both.

An MS account is ok in most situtations but it does not allow you to create your own account name.

For temporary installation, in vms, local accounts do not clutter up your online MSA account with lots of devices registered to your account.

I like to set up my (mostly Windows 10/11 Pro) Hyper-V vms with no passwords.

Now I would have to faff around installing with MS account, start up in basic mode, then disable Windows Hello so I can use enhanced mode, then run netplwiz so I do not need passwords i.e. about 20 clicks or so to do what I could do in 3 before.

Ok, if MS fix the Hyper-V quirk (or bug depending on viewpoint) that requires Windows Hello to be off, the above would not be required - before MS insisted you did not need to a PIN, Windows Hello was off by default.

So that in itself was MS a dictatorial decision.

Insisting you install with an MS account is just not suitable for all situations.

One Size does not fit all.

None of my post here has anything to do with the mass hysteria over privacy or not.

I have simply pointed out valid reasons when a local account is preferable for installation.

So guys - talk valid reasons , not emotional opinions.
