Missing Package

I am repeatedly getting an error message on an app startup . The message is asking for an alternative location for a Virtual C++ package location. I have tried searching but cannot locate where the original package should be. The identified location does not contain a .msi file. I have tried downloading installation packages but am not allowed to remove the original installation for a reinstall. The missing files does not appear to have an adverse effect on my PC, it's just a bit irritating. Anyone any suggestions, please?.

Windows 11 Pro 64 bit. Version: 25H2 Build: 26200.8655

Is that a store app or a downloaded and installed 'program' (exe/dll)?

You might try uninstalling, reinstalling it using a 3rd party uninstaller.

You might also consider doing routine disk and file system checks just in case there's a problem there - Crystal Diskinfo AND chkdsk c: /scan e.g. - both- they are utterly different.

After downloading the redistributable again, did you try VC_redist.x64.exe /repair?

Thank you for the responses. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the application but the the redistributable did not reinstall. I am unable to remove or reinstall the redistributable. I receive the same message regarding missing packages, or a message saying I am not allowed to remove the current installation. can you please explain how to run the VC_redist.x64.exe /repair command?

However in some cases I note the Modify button is greyed out.. suggesting the corresponding .msi file is not available.

That presents a difficulty.

As for the Repair command, if you had done a quick search, you might have found:

However that, as with the method in my post above, implies you have the relevant .msi file on your system - and know where to find it (see my post above on that).

If the .msi file is missing, you will need to download the correct distributable again.

Thanks again,
The VC repair process failed, with the message in the attached screen shot, the log file is also attached.
With regard to the elevated command, I did try that but it failed, with an error message : "not recognized as an internal or external command " etc
But I read a little further and changed the directory to the download directory and the process completed. however the same error message appears when I try to run the app again

to be replaced by the actual name of the exe file

What? That is the name of the file when you download it, the 64-bit redistributable anyway.
