An update.
I replaced the Thunderbolt 4 "umbilical" between the computer and the CalDigit dock. Bought a new mouse, same as the one I already had, so it's still USB. Unplugged the mouse dongle from the PC and plugged it back into the CalDigit.
So far, the mouse has been working correctly for two days. If I have another glitch, I'll get a BT mouse. Time will tell.
Thanks to all for your input.
