New Version of ExplorerPatcher

You can access it in Start / Apps / properties (Explorerpatcher). It's the same in Windows 10/ or 11 Start menu

It may be worth adding this info to the "readme" information for EP. I just installed EP for the first time yesterday and could not figure out how to get to the 'Properties' screen. I had a ton of apps already open, and the default behavior for EP is to ungroup all apps on the taskbar, and include app labels. So my taskbar was 'full', with no 'empty space' to right click to get to the 'properties' option! I had to close more and more apps until I finally got to the point where there was space, so I could then right click and get to 'properties'. I did take a look on the 'start' menu under 'E' for ExplorerPatcher, but never thought to look under P! I browsed the Wiki for this info to no avail.

Readme currently says this:
... When done, you will be greeted with the familiar Windows 10 taskbar. To customize the options offered by the program, right click the taskbar and choose "Properties".
That's it. It's that simple.

I do have one simple question; is uninstalling EP the only way to disable or 'turn it off' entirely? And if I do uninstall, will re-installing bring back a 'clean' setup, or will it remember settings from my last install? I want to be able to compare native Win 11 to the EP-enhanced version, for various reasons.

@Steerpike, think it is written somewhere in Wiki, and also explained why there's Properties instead of ExplorerPatcher. But admit I have forgotten where or why.

There is another way to access Properties: open Task manager, click on File / run and type : rundll32 C:\Windows\dxgi.dll,ZZGUI

but this is even more complicated, Maybe the author (valinet) will drop by and comment this. Not being able to select Properties from Taskbar when it is full is problematic.

Regarding turning EP completely off.. I would suggest uninstall. Although, switching to Windows 11 Taskbar and Start menu is almost the same as uninstalling (not the same) but can keep other extras

REeinstalling will bring you back current setup (not sure), but you can load default settings, or save and reload your current settings - in About

Glad it worked out that way. I do fear that MS will eventually make EP unusable, which is why I'm setting up 11 without it, to see if I can adapt. So far it's a 50/50 thing. But I'll be installing EP at some point anyway, and enjoy it while it lasts.

Yea... I'm starting to admit... I may have to bite the bullet. All these start/menu/taskbar mods can't last forever.

Fixing EP for Dev builds is almost mission impossible.. valinet is doing miracles regarding all.

Regular Windows 11 version is behaving quite well with EP.

Not being a build user, I'm assuming that each build introduces new "stuff" in the codebase that will eventually render EP unusable even in future releases. valinet deserves a medal for what he's doing, but in the end I'm thinking it will come to an end. Hopefully not, but Microsoft has the final word.

It's all about buying us some time to adjust to Windows 11 "features" that break our normal life..

In time Windows 11 will grow, still believe in that, and some features that we miss will reemerge. In the meantime, there is EP, and similar products.

That's an entire OS install!?!
Yeah, it's an entire alternate OS and it contains many elements of past Windows versions all the way back to XP. It's not really Win 11 from what I can see. I would steer clear.

Yeah, it's an entire alternate OS and it contains many elements of past Windows versions all the way back to XP. It's not really Win 11 from what I can see. I would steer clear.

Unfortunately, less knowledgeable people will install it.

I have my taskbar height expanded because I have two levels of icons for Quick Launch and various toolbars. The expanded height allows the date to show. Auto-hide is useful in that case because you retain screen space.
