I wasn't having a problem, but I tried changing to Win10 ribbon, and immediately had a different issue: no flashing screen, but right click killed File Explorer immediately. Back to Win11 for Command Bar, and all is well.

The fix is to manually download the latest version and install it to repair the corrupted Explorer Patcher.

Thanks for confirming.

So Win 10 ribbon Control Interface selection is a right-click killer now, for some reason. But it's great that W11 Command Bar now works, as that restores Explorer tab functionality.

Tabs in File Explorer are just daft IMO. Even if you disagree with me on that (which I'm sure a lot of people will...) it's still impossible to justify all those sacrifices (also IMO) because, clearly, the new File Explorer with the Command Bar still breaks more than several other important File Explorer functionalities. It's been raining various complaints about that fact for many months all over the internet, and, I don't expect it to stop raining them anytime soon.

They want to make it look like Mac OS Launcher (I think that's the term), start button at the center, taskbar at the bottom. Thanks God we can at least change start button to bottom left like in earlier Windows versions. It is not very convenient at the center.

In the popular technology Greek magazine "Hitech" I had read that "whatever locks it can be unlocked". The magazine was referring to DVD region system and described how to change the DVD-RW firmware to make it RC1 (region unlocked). But I guess the same applies here. If Microsoft is stupid enough to lock taskbar to new look only, surely there will be some workarounds to unlock it. I hope the Explorer Patcher programmer is skillful enough to eventually find a workaround.

I guess because it is "built in " code it will need to be built from the ground up as the the ones at the moment seem to just modify existing code.
Maybe worth seeing what the GITHUB has to say about it and I also wonder if OpenShell will still work with build 26002

My understanding is that EP relies entirely on legacy code still buried somewhere in the operating system. Is MS inserting new code to block access, or removing the old code entirely? If it's the former, EP may be able to find a workaround. But if the code is removed, we might be out of luck.

If the code is removed (hopefully only hidden), then it might be possible to write new code to replace the functionality. Or use an older version of the relevant system files containing the code. I am sure @valinet will figure it out long before the changes are released in the standard Windows 11 release. The same goes for Open Shell.

@LeeB @spapakons I agree with you both, it is a matter of if @valinet wants to go that way as he does all this for pretty much nothing in his spare time. From what I understood , the code is being removed totally as it is already hidden. failing EP working, I am sure some company will find a way around this to make money as a commercial process

Windows 1.0 looked suspiciously like Mac OS and Apple got Microsoft to court. Microsoft promised next version won't be similar to Mac OS (if I remember correctly) and made a slight difference. Since Windows 95 the taskbar is at the bottom while in Mac OS classic and newer it is on top.
