Hello

an anyone support in a problem with "ProductAgent for Windows" showing in Other devices?
I am informed this is supposed to be for Bitdefender services but I do not have Bitdefender installed.
There was an instance of Bitdefender being installed several months ago, but since then I have reformatted and even installed a new NVMe device but this is still apparent in my Network, Other Devices.

How do I remove this "Other Device"

It appears that Bitdefender did not uninstall cleanly. You might try one of Bitdefender's uninstall tools. There is a different tool for each of their products.

Hello

As per my initial post, this is a new NVMe device and bitdefender has not been installed on it.
However I did try the uninstall tools on an old hard drive and contacted bitdefender support to no avail.
So I reformatted and still had the same issue, then I installed a new NVMe device and still have the issue.

How can this be?

I think that somewhere in the registry there is an entry pointing the drive letter to bitdefender.

Thanks for the response

How is this possible from a clean install and a new NVMe device which has never seen bitdefender.
Does this mean microsoft add Bitdefender registry entries as standard?

I did a registry scan for bitdefender as a check and nothing is found.

You mention this is a clean install on a new disk that has never seen any Bitdefender install, so I would hazard a guess this 'device' is a software plugin likely coming from another package install, something installed along with motherboard drivers/ chipset maybe? Or a browser based plugin, online banking app etc? Or part of the software for a NAS?
Your computer information simply says Windows 11 Pro, not very helpful for anyone trying to help you beyond wild guesses.

Make sure you don't have an entry in services for Bitdefender. If you do, disable it.

Just to clarify,
There is no Bitdefender installed, there has never been any Bitdefender installed on this new NVMe device
This is a clean install on a new NVMe

However, I think I have come across the problem thanks to a tip from DigitalGoat.
This is coming from my Router which has Netgear Armor in the firmware which uses Bitdefender, but it is not enabled.
When I swap out the router for an Ubiquiti Edge router, the other device disappears. Darn it Netgear.

I think I will bin the router (RAX200) and buy something else that does not come with spyware.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

Whoa, good catch @Yosemite. That's a pretty esoteric way to get a driver showing up in DevMgr. I'll have to remember that...

Ed.

The crazy thing is that there is nothing in device manager. No drivers are installed. It's it the firmware that provides the driver.
Nothing anywhere on the system or in the registry.
