Sure. A fellow can throw a junker together and be done with it. He might even get a lot of mileage out of it. (I owned a Neon like that.)

But then there's the build that you could keep on building, refining, improving etc. for the rest of your days.

I have such a build and methinks Lance does too. One of the things about owning a huge case is that there is always room for improvement. :sneaky:

My Friend. I can't agree with you more. My system is like fine wine and ageing perfectly as of this date. My Boot time is 15 seconds constantly to windows. Access to anything is almost instant. So this child that I Have built will serve me for years to come.

I'm attempting to do this (in tandem) again and I feel such hesitation because my perfectly functional ThermalTake that has served me well for over a decade is being dismantled to make room for a replacement board. . . A replacement board that is causing me so much grief that I'm nearly sorry I bought it. The one motivating factor behind this venture is ::: Drum Roll ::: Windows 11. I should be fair. It really isn't the "Windows 11 Ready" system board that's causing me the mental anguish, no, it's Windows 11 24H2. The reason I know this is because my Windows 7 Ultimate just keep on chugging along despite the four BIOS flashes, despite the finicky memory, despite all the hardware changes. Meanwhile Win 11 just keeps on crashing and burning. Oh, the joys of PC building!

Enjoy your child, my friend. May you have at least a decade of pleasure with it as I did with mine.

I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.
