Popups Blocked By Cursor

When I mouse over "tool tips" on a web page, they are blocked by (appear behind) the cursor and can't be read. Gmail is one example - see Image 1. It even happens on this site - see Image 2. I get the same result in Firefox and Brave. I believe this happens in other apps, but don't have any examples at the moment. This has been driving me nuts for quite a while. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Yes, they're browser screenshots. My primary browser is Firefox but the same thing happens in Edge, Chrome and Brave.

I would suggest that you would need to investigate how to disable hover menus in each of those browsers. I am not currently in the best place to look for you, using this device.

You mention 'Tooltips'? Isn't that a Narrator function? Have you got 'Narrator' turned on? If so then consider if you need it 'On' and maybe turn it 'Off'?

My apologies. I believe I have read your issue wrongly. You want to hover menus but you don’t want them blocked by a cursor?
It does seem like a badly thought out design.
When you move your cursor, how long do the hover menus stay?
Maybe there is a way to extend the time limit in a setting or registry entry.

Do the hover menus move position depending on where you put the cursor over the focus?

I believe it's because you have your mouse pointer set too large. Go to control panel>mouse Under scheme click the drop arrow
and choose NONE

SOLVED

When I went to Control Panel>Mouse>Pointers, the scheme was already set to None. However, when I went to Settings>Accessibility>Mouse Pointer and Touch, the size was set to 6. I reduced it to 1 and that seems to have solved the problem.

The only problem is, I have poor vision, so setting the cursor smaller makes seeing/finding it more difficult. Seems like Microsoft didn't think through or test their accessibility efforts very well. Thankfully, that's less annoying than the tool tips being block - but not by much.

In any case, thanks for the suggestion/solution! Much appreciated.

Thanks for the input. This may be a terminology thing, but the issue doesn't happen with menus, only tool tips. I don't believe there is a time limit for how long the tip stays visible - it's visible only as long as I hover over the "hot spot" - the area designated by the developer for each item. If I move the cursor while hovering over a particular item, it is sometimes possible to read some of the blocked letters, but not always.

I have "elderly vision" too, and I use the pointer scheme "Windows Default XL." I have no trouble seeing my pointers and none of them cover the balloons (your "tool tips") that pop up. I have slightly modified my scheme by substituting a vertical arrowhead for the hand in that scheme. If you're interested, I could post the set I use in a zipped file, and give you any help you need with changing your scheme.

I tried the Windows Default XL pointer setting and so far, it does not appear to block the tool tips. I guess the pointer size function in the Settings app needs more work. Thanks!

I don't believe there is a time limit for how long the tip stays visible - it's visible only as long as I hover over the "hot spot" - the area designated by the developer for each item. If I move the cursor while hovering over a particular item, it is sometimes possible to read some of the blocked letters, but not always.
