power button stays on

After updating to 22H2 I have had/having several issues, the latest being when I shut down my laptop, it all shuts down fine except now the button to turn it on stays lit. it goes off when I turn the mains power supplies off at the wall but it appears still to be using battery power for something. anyone have any ideas of a fix?

One thing about computers of the last bunch of years and the ATX-style motherboards is the power button doesn't connect directly to the power supply but to the motherboard, different from the AT-style board where the switch actually connected to the power supply itself. There's always power to the motherboard until removing/unplugging the power source, with Desktops it's the power cord and with Notebooks it's both the power cord and the battery. Pressing the switch just tells the motherboard to do it thing. For a full shutdown it usually requires holding the switch in/down for 8 to 10 seconds.

Probably a driver or application still running in the background preventing full shutdown of the system. Windows wait for ever to turn off the computer. I would update the BIOS and all drivers first. I would then disable unnecessary applications from Startup so they don't run and not stay in memory when I want to shutdown the computer. Do these and report. If there is any system files corrupt that prevent proper shutdown you can find them and fix them by running sfc /scannow at the Terminal or Powershell as Administrator.
