In WD control panel, you can disable scanning of certain folders, executables and processes. It's tricky to find.

I'll post the path once I get to my computer...

This may or may not solve the problem. Try fixing Defender first.

This would be fine. I searched for Windows Defender problems in the internet. But it seems not so easy to handle them.

Biggest amount:
Firewall/Network: Public Network
Virus-protection: Real time protection

A lesser amount:

yeah, real time protection is something you have to work on for those processes that is using audio.

1. Open up Windows security.
2. Go to Virus and Threat protection
3. Go to Virus and Threat protection Settings --> Manage Settings
4. Scroll down to bottom and click Add remove Exclusions
5. Say yes on UAC prompt
6. Add exclusion for each process you find in task manager that is related to audio
7. You can also exclude specific folders if they are written to often to speed up such stuff (I use this for folders I compile code in)

Expect a bit of trial and error here. It takes time to figure out what helps and what not. What does not affect performance should be scanned normally.

I switched off the public-network-firewall (cause it makes also latency-problems). I tried to make exclusions (see exclusion at the attachment), but there are still problems. :-(
Once again a latency report of drivers and processes... Thanks for your patience.

P. S.: When switching off the realtime processes, there are still latency problems with the firewall (public networks). Do you have an idea what to do with that?

(Perhaps, I should try Avast. Is it possible to switch off the defender with all of his functions? Otherwise, there could be conflicts between defender and Avast).

But it causes latencies when switching realtime scanning and private network firewall off. Or could it be an accident? (Switching Windows firewall and realtime scanning completely off, there is no latency.) I tried the one factor changing system to find the cause for latencies.

As result of the conversation, I will switch off the Windows defender and realtime protection when being offline.
Then, I can minimize the latency problems.

sorry for bringing this old thread back, but I'm afraid that this Dell Latitude E5570 laptop does not officially support Windows 11 as Dell does not provide any Win11 specific drivers for it, hence this notice from the Dell support site, regarding this laptop pc:

The Microsoft requirements for Windows 11 are not supported on this device. Read more about system requirements here.

OP will need to buy a new laptop that officially supports Windows 11 as running Win11 on an old machine that isn't supported can lead to such latency problems
