I had Outlook 2016, Excel 2016 open.

I left the laptop for a number of minutes.

Upon returning the screen was off using screen saver.

The laptop may also have been in Sleep mode.

When I reactivated the screen, Outlook was not connecting to the Internet. I clicked Send/Receive a few times but nothing was happening. I then tried to close Outlook down but the program was frozen.

I had to close the programme down using Task Manager.

When I tried to reopen Outlook, a window came up stating that the Mail pst file could not be found.

My Pst files are stored on a Micro SD card (D Drive).

I checked the D Drive and with File Explorer, ExplorerXp and MSDOS.

The file could not be seen.

I have used software, Disk Drill, File Scavenger, ScanPST and Outlook Repair tools with no luck.

The Mail pst file has “disappeared”

Any help to recover the pst file?

Regards

Found that at the same time a Windows Update was happening during sleep mode/screen saver..

After trying every repair option several times with no luck tried System Restore - fixed it! but lost the emails from that day.

Reads like your micro sd card might have issues. If the .pst file is no longer on it.
My advice would be, in the future, if you’re able to recover it or have to start again, don’t have it on the MICRO SD card as the default, save it to a hard drive and back it up to the MICRO SD.

Antspants,

Thanks.

SD Card seems OK. But I always back up every month with 2 copies on different disks.
