Windows 11 Pro Version 23H2 Build 22631.3593 Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1003.0
Hello everyone,

I hope you can help me fix my work computer. Issue started on Sunday, May 5th, it began restarting randomly several times a day during different basic tasks (web browsing, opening programs or even just being idle) every time with a BSOD. Event viewer shows a recurrent error before each BSOD: "The server {8CFC164F-4BE5-4FDD-94E9-E2AF73ED4A19} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout." Event ID: 10010.

I have looked for solutions from different sources including:

6 Ways to Fix The Server Did Not Register with DCOM Error - MiniTool Partition Wizard

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/1376716/blue-screen-of-death-event-id-10010

This is what I have done so far:

1. Reset PC (Advanced menu, resetting to factory settings)
2. Setting DCOM configuration to default and disable fast boot. Everything set to Automatic start (delayed).
3. Uninstalled Windows Web Experience Pack via PowerShell
4. Created RpcLocatorTimeout DWORD entry on Microsoft/OLE
5. Power cycle and made sure issue was not peripheral related by unplugging all of them

Windows 11 Pro Version is 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3593). PC is fully updated.

V2Logs are located here and on this post.

Please help
Thanks.

Upgrade the BIOS: 40WW > 43WW

Hi @zbook,

Thanks for the reply and apologies for the delay in my response.

After updating the bios to version 43WW I was able to work a couple of days (Thursday, Friday and even Monday) without issues and I thought the issue was resolved however, BSOD returned today with the difference that the computer got stuck on the error message (usually it just pops on and off rapidly and the PC restarts by itself).

I´m including the requested screenshots with the results of the troubleshooting steps suggested along with a copy of the Event viewer logs for last Saturday and Today´s BSOD events which I think would be handy for your analysis.

I´m running out of options here as I´ve already tried several other things including disabling Fast/Secure boot, Fast Startup, Automatic updates among others.

Your help is highly appreciated it.

Thanks.

Hello again,

During the last 2 weeks after your last reply I was able to work on my computer without major issues, only 1 or 2 BSODs a week so I though they issue was more less resolved, however, yesterday I´ve got several BSOD in a row that interrupted my work and got me worried again since, like I said, this is my work computer and my only way to make ends meet.

Having said that, please find below the results for tests suggested. I also noticed some critical error and errors via Eventviewer so I´m attaching that as well.

Your help is highly appreciated.

Thanks.

From the .dmp: The UcmUcsi driver has encountered an error. This is usually indicative of a problem with the UCSI firmware on the platform or device.
Are those bluescreens happening more on days you connect some usb device?

Hi @zbook.,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

I do have several USB devices connected including my mouse, an external ethernet adapter and a multi port adapter for HDMI and SD Card slots, however, my PC is a Lenovo.

Should I still follow the instructions and disable UCSI?

Hi again

As soon as I restarted PC after applying the above mentioned settings to All Non Microsoft Drivers I got this BSOD:

I still went ahead an obtained the verifier output although I guess is not very useful.

Please advise.

From the .dmp: The UcmUcsi driver has encountered an error. This is usually indicative of a problem with the UCSI firmware on the platform or device.
Are those bluescreens happening more on days you connect some usb device?

If you have an HP pc, this might be the issue: https://support.hp.com/th-en/document/c06014349
Follow the steps there to disable UCSI
As a follow up to my previous question, besides the fact that I´m on a Lenovo Laptop, none of the BSOD I´ve ever received on my PC are related to UcmUcsi.sys.

Just an FYI in case this is of importance.

Thanks

Might want to checkout in the lenovo bios, if it has a setting like those in HP bios. If only for testing purpuse to see if laptop is stable afterwards.

Hi Zbook,

Thanks for the assist.

I´ve followed all steps suggested. After uninstalling the Mediatek Driver and restarted WDV, no BSOD was shown and the PC was able to restart normally for a change.

It may be worth noting that the driver is back on Device driver and on the Windows Explorer location even though I selected "attempt to delete driver from PC" while uninstalling.

Also a "Mediatek" entry was shown on WDV even after uninstalling it.

Please find below:

1. Verfier settings: CWindowsSystem32verifier querysetti 2022hrs UTC-6.txt
2. New V2 log: BSCR002-(2024-06-01_20-23-37).zip

4. Driver shown on WDV: WDV 2024-06-01 201930.png

Thanks.
