The ones that will remove using the normal Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup command are probably safe to remove however those occasional two that won't remove and are "unreclaimable" should not be forcibly removed for the reasons stated in post #5.

These are baseline updates that serve as a foundation for subsequent cumulative updates. They are intentionally left in a "staged" or partially installed state to ensure readiness for future updates.

Do not remove these specific checkpoint updates
Attempting to force their removal can cause system instability and potential issues with future updates or rollback scenarios.

OK, never any problems noticed in previous Win11-versions ( 23H2,24H2) !
Very curious how second tuesday will accept my removal of these files..........

You may or may not have issues, I'd say it's dependent on the WU build and the individual computers being updated. Like I said I've gone both ways after their removal. I haven't had an issue on my Beta build 24H2 machine after removing those two packages but both my RP insider machines on the other hand have had identical WU fails and had to be repair installed. They are two totally different machines, one an Intel Core Ultra 9 and one a Snap Dragon X Elite ARM64.

beating a dead horse here lol. just go back to the original post and put a disclaimer that you may or may not experience WU errors that are only repairable via a repair reinstall. but this dupe thread is unnecessary @Brink
people that search for it will have to sift through pages to find the actual answer @Bree posted in a totally different thread.

Is there anyone here besides myself who have "forcibly" removed these packages
and have never had any update errors or system instability issues since?

I realize some of you had issues and had to put the two packages back, but neither
of my systems, not to mention my vhdx Dev Insider build have had any issues after
removing those packages.

EDIT: The latest Dev build 26220.6780 would not install without those packages.

We'll see what happens with the RTM build on Tuesday.

Here's the obvious question: Has anyone figured out what those two packages are actually for? What feature(s) do they manage?
Are they actual outdated components, or just install image metadata?

I uninstalled these two packages about a month ago, and haven't had any problems yet.
They were listed as "deeply superseded" in the original uninstallation thread.

Just ran the DISM maintenance, and the two packages remain. I'm leaving them alone since it didn't go well last time I removed them! :LOL: I started with 12 reclaimable packages and removing the ten easy ones got back around 10GB, good enough for me.

Not sure why I'd worry in any case... ;-)
