Search protect has taken over google chrome

I have tried to change my search engine provider which seems to be Yahoo Search - Web Search But I am stopped from selecting google.co.uk as my provider. I have found searchprotect is getting in the way. I have been to controll pannel. Searchprotect does not apear neither does conduit which I am told to look for. I have to do this in firefox.

Windows defender did not stop it and reports no threats found. Obviously not a good defender is it?

Based on a quick search, it looks like you're infected with malware.

Yes see it but I have defender. There is nothing to say that need to do anything else. I type defender in the search box at the bottom I have a menu on the left but nothing for a seperate PUP protection. I have
