Uh, what online details?

I believe there was a web based version of the compat tool somwhere that gave you maybe 4 outta all the options, i used it myself before i found the tool but cant seem to find it anymore, Unless theyve removed it or it could have been third party

I had a search online for it but i cant remember where i got it from at the time and a fresh search didnt pull anything up apart from the program version

Could it have been the not affiliated whynotwin11 DOT COM versus the affiliated WhyNotWin11 DOT ORG that now shows on the app (older versions showed that "This website is not owned by me" message with it was still DOT COM)....

Possibly could be, i only used it the once and then found the download version, was just to back up what he said about using an online one

Only thing I can think of - I never saw it,. only saw the downloadable apps, but I'm used ot GitHub and getting apps from various devs there, so I didn't exactly look for an online version of anything.

Since there are multitudes of BIOS (UEFI) layouts it would be best to visit the specific owner's manual for the board along with a visual inspection of the UEFI (BIOS) so that you might have a better understanding where things are.

But for the record, I have a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Xtreme as well as a Gigabyte GA-Z270X-Gaming 8 board and even though both are Gigabyte boards with a UEFI BIOS, they have different layouts and options. What that means to you is we have different boards so I can't say where to look in your BIOS for Secure Boot.

There's also the fact that you have an AMD board where I only know Intel boards. That said, do be aware Secure Boot does require certain "pre-requisites" such as CSM to be disabled before enabling (or even seeing) the Secure Boot option.

Again, why you need to check your owner's manual. And again, this coming from a strictly Intel board user. Can't be certain what "AMD" needs.

I have asked a similar question with TPM

OK you enable secure boot whether in a VM or in a physical machine. Now how do you load it or so now what do you actually do with it !!!

Again there seems very little documentation on this -- do you just load the product key of your Windows system -- a lot are probably just the generic key since activation in general is done via a digital license so I doubt whether just loading a generic key would be worth anything. There might be some type of special HWID (Hardware identifier) key but that would presumably have to agree with the Ms activation servers on digital licenses.

This also seems an inherently "Hackable" method by which the rather more unscrupulous could get hold of a valid "HWID" to create and distribute Pirate versions of Windows which really should make people change the name to "Insecure Boot" !!!!

Hacking a PC from outside wouldn't be required in a lot of cases as "Stolen" laptops etc could be used to get at the secure boot settings. How many laptops a day "Go Walkies" at most of the world's major airports. !!! Even if that PC contained unique internal encryption for the eventual key the Hacker would be able to get the data in some form of "Clear Text".

Old OEM systems had the W7/W8 keys in the BIOS when you bought the system but you could disable it and clear the keys. But in those days activation was done with the product key. I'm not sure about W10 / W11 systems though as most seem to just use the "Generic product key" .

Again to all those Windows Geeks who are much more experienced in this stuff than me --I really would be greatful on info : that if I enable secure boot whether in a VM or otherwise --what do I actually have to do to make sure it's working properly (and securely). The only thing currently that it does as far as I can see is make it not possible to boot "legacy type OS'es" from external media which is easy enough (again currently) to get round by disabling secure boot and enabling "legacy boot" in the BIOS menu.

Maybe I've totally missed the point or not understood how it really works -- that's possible and that's why I'd love for some decent info from our more knowlegable Geeks !!!

Interesting, can actually activate secure-boot and uefi from bios and then install w10 w11 , after that, can disable balet academy in bios.
And use third-party software as thumbdrives or/and such

W10 don't need that TPM or Secure Boot thing, even if you on the Legacy mode, it boots also.

I think he meant install Win10 then upgrade to 11......

Upgrading to W11... I think it will block you to install W11, BUT if you have an modified W10 ISO, it will install flawlessly.

No, not uppgrade,, fresh install on a computer, can use csm after that, after when bios settings is oki dokey

Currently - because all we have is an Insiders Dev build.

Don't know yet if this will work on the final product.

Okay,, but its going to be a mess with thumbdrives. Puppy linux on a thumbdrive , could use that and csm is activated.
Gparted and so on with csm .

It may be a mess. Again if Microsoft sticks the requiring it. We don't know for sure yet, so we cannot make accurate predictions.
