Isn't there any clue in the event logs? Sounds like time for a clean install and rebuilding Windows.

There are lots of Errors 1084, event IDs 10005 during the safe mode period.

My guess would be that doesn't run in Safe mode, either by design or something is missing.

I have no idea why that's throwing errors in normal mode, but that's certainly likely to be part of the problem.

I just checked, the event viewer works in safe mode but my screen capture software does not, so no screen shot.
But it shows the same error messages as above.

A bit over a year ago, I had a problem with a USB port. (Horribly distorted sound from PC speakers, that communicate via USB.)

What I ultimately did was to image C: (Macrium Reflect), and follow with a clean install of Win 11. I thought that would determine whether I had corrupted drivers. (The speakers had worked previously, on the same hardware and OS, although not necessarily the same OS build.)

With a minimal Win11, the issue persisted. That may not have been absolute proof that it was a hardware issue, but it was good enough for me.

I restored the image to C.

The motherboard was still within the exchange window at the shop, so I replaced it with the exact same model. I put the drives in the same slots.

No USB issues. That has held true for nearly 18 months.

If "esebm's" problem turns out to not be a hardware issue, rebuilding Windows from scratch may not be fun.

The level of "fun" is related to how much you've installed and configured. When I replaced my wife's computer, it took a couple hours and she was back to her original operational state. For me, it took me a few days probably 20 hours or so, to get everything back to where all my applications and configuration was back.

However a clean install does give you a chance to clean out junk that you've installed over the years and start with a clean slate of only your current needs.

This PC drives me nuts! It ran for over 2 days without shutting down and I got my hopes up.
Today it started back with its antics.
What if I reinstall windows and this thing conks out on me in the middle of that? I'd be screwed, right?

I haven't read every post in this thread but have you tried doing a selective startup and disabling all non-Microsoft services? This stops all 3rd party services from starting and may help to diagnose/eleminate some possibilities.

I think @Brink has a tutorial about using options like Selective Startup here at Elevenforum?

I had the system running in safe mode for about 24 hours without a problem, if that's what you mean.

I'm Starting to think hardware problems here, either memory or the motherboard/CPU. I think you've beat software debugging to death without any concrete results.

Did those DCOM errors still appear in the Event Viewer when running in Safe Mode?
