Slow Login Time After KB5034765

Hello All,

I was not sure if I should post here or Updates forum but since I don't have issues with installation, uninstallation of the said Cumulative Update perhaps here is better.

This is a brand new PC I built about 2 weeks ago, and I had no issues whatsoever. Core isolation disabled due to Logitech G19 + desktop tweaks from Chris Titus's winutils. Perhaps worthy to mention just in case, I am using Malwarebytes Lifetime (thank you sevenforums back in the day )

Chipset, BIOS and all possible drivers up-to-date. sfc and dism already ran. No issues found or already fixed.

As the title says, pin entry to desktop takes about 10 seconds after the update. It was instant before. Symptoms disappear if I uninstall the update. No other issues I could observe otherwise. BIOS time is pretty much 14-15 seconds, disabling some of the few startup apps do not change anything (they were enabled and instant login before the update anyway).

Since this is a recent fresh OS install, I have only a handful updates in history.



What to do at this point? Thanks!

I updated to KB5034765 and still have the problem of slow login.
Change toolbar behavior (left or center) and Copilot (on or off) and try restarting
Suddenly it returned to normal. I don't know if it works. I just did this action.

I will remember those if it happens again. For now, I solved it some other way. Though also not sure what exactly was the problem.

While trying stuff I flipped Core Isolation back on, but that kind of messed up the keyboard, as in LCD was working but no keys were registered. Turned isolation off and restarted with no avail. Then uninstalled Logitech Gaming Software, uninstalled a USB device that got orphaned afterwards along with the LCD driver. Enabled Core Isolation restarted, disabled again restarted, installed LGS and it is instant login once again.

This happens again, I can only uninstall kb5034765

I know this post has been stale for a bit. I found a fix for the slow logins issue. However it does come with a con. Add key in regedit: HKLM / Microsoft / Windows / Current Version / Policies / System. Dword: Delayeddesktoptimeoutswitch. Set to 1 is recommended by many sites. New and current users get in quick. However, the taskbar is delayed a bit. I had this fix for Windows 10, with success.
