Why exactly would they include file explorer? Totally different section of Windows. If Stardock had any plans to do that, I would assume it would be a separate app. $$$

I never returned to this thread to say that I ended up getting Start11 v2 after saying I wouldn’t due to my view on their tactics with introducing a new version.
I nagged the company about my disappointment, the amount of copies of their various softwares I owned (which is a lot) and how I refused to take it, they ended up nearly throwing it at me for next to nothing so they could shut me up and get rid of me after getting a handful of support emails a day about it over a couple of weeks. 😄

I did like StartAllBack (SAB) very much. It was, together with ExplorerPatcher (EP), the only app that made the old Quick Launch on the taskbar possible.

I know you can pin apps and folders to the taskbar as well, but that does function just a bit different from what I was very much used to. But I found a trick to make the pinned apps function almost the same as they do in the old Quick Launch. I did that by using 'nircmd' and adding "nircmd exec hide" in the shortcut before the link to the program. In that way clicking a pinned app will open a new taskbar item (I never combine anything on the taskbar) and the pinned icon stays at the place where I put it. Clicking Firefox twice opens two windows of Firefox (which normally is not possible when apps are pinned to the taskbar). And in shortcuts to folders I added 'explorer' before the link to the folder.

So now I was ready to return to Start11, of which I had saved all information when I made the step to SAB.
At installation I became an offer for upgrading to version 2 for about half the prize a new v2 should be licenced. So I did that and now I am fully back on Start11, but on version 2. Using ElevenClock for the enlarged system tray clock. And EarTrumpet for the volume and sound mixer (ElevenClock hides the normal network and volume icons, which I did not like at all).

Experimented with the start button as well and composed a good looking one that separates the start button from the 'Quick Launch' icons..

The left side of the taskbar, including the imitated 'Quick Launch' looks like this:

- Opened windows

The system tray like this:

- System tray overflow icon
- Email alerter (still using Popman)
- Volume icon of EarTrumpet
- ElevenClock time

I think now I am ready for Windows 11 future updates.
Time will tell. ;-)

I decided to move on to Start 11, I will just deal with new File Explorer. The start 11 customizations are much better and I know at least it will work

There are some 3rd party File Explorers available. Explorer++ and XYplorer are apparently popular

I will check those out, I tried keeping Startallback just for the explorer but both programs don't work well together. I looked at some 3rd party explorers years ago but they don;t seem to let me transfer all my tags
