For anyone interested, even though we don't have Quick Launch any more you can simulate it without using any 3rd party tool. I call it the Poor Man's Quicklaunch.
If your goal is to have more icons on your taskbar you might see if it will work for you. Here's how.

1. Browse to C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\
(NOTE: you have to have "show hidden files" enabled in folder options to see this folder.)
Within this folder create a sub-folder and name it Quick Launch or whatever you want.

2. Make a shortcut to this new Quick Launch folder on your desktop but add
C:\windows\explorer.exe in front of the location path like this:
C:\Windows\explorer.exe C:\Users\glass\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch.

3. Assign this shortcut an icon. (Right click on desktop shortcut-properties-change icon-select an icon-apply-OK)

4. Pin the shortcut to taskbar

You can put anything you want into this folder. Files, sub-folders, shortcuts.
I rarely go to my desktop as everything is organized within this folder in a manner that I can quickly access it from my fake quicklaunch icon on the taskbar.

A couple of new additions to Start11v2 that I am liking.

The left or right Taskbar positioning works well for me, without incident. Have tried it with all of the following available Start Menu Styles.

The ability to dictate where individual Taskbar Pins live is pretty neat.

The new method of dictating sizes of Taskbar Pins and the Start Button is also pretty neat. All the way down to 14 pixels. The taskbar width (height) resizes accordingly but can be dragged to resize.

There are more options but I haven't gotten around to them.

You would think that if they’re going to allow a 3rd party vendor to create enhancements to the Start Menu & Taskbar, at a software deployment size of under 80MB, they would just add these enhancements as an option.
But nooooooooo… poopy pants.

Upgraded to the latest version yesterday, yet to install though. I can't think of using the Windows 11 without it, the stock start menu is worse than Windows 7. I hope they also make something for taskbar and different minuses. An entire shell replacement would be cool.

It's quite obvious, with this and countless other applications, that it is possible to customize and stylize the Windows UI, and, many users desire this ability..., yet, MS seems so against it!!!

That is one way to look at it but I don't think MS is necessarily against it.
It keeps the wheel greased for smaller companies or for developers to sharpen their skills and it does not hurt MS one bit.
I think they simply don't care unless it jeopardizes their own work, at which point, MS will issue a warning to users.

Resolved a positioning issue for certain custom start buttons when used on a vertical taskbar
Tweaks to how work area sizes are calculated to handle slower applications such as ObjectDock (switching from autohide to non autohide sometimes caused the wrong amount of space to be allocated)
System tray icons made slightly less spaced on vertical taskbars
Resolved issue with run as admin for some other apps
Further work area tweaks for mixed dpi setups
Fixed black icons in universal apps menu when using Win7 style and apply colour to taskbar/start in the OS

These apply to horizontal enhanced mode taskbars only.

S11_PrimaryTBOverrideOffset = how far to offset the taskbar from the left screen edge in pixels. Default is -1 which means auto
S11_PrimaryTBOverrideWidth = How wide the taskbar should be in pixels. If the above value isn't set then it centres the bar.

These are primarily intended for use when a user has a very wide screen and is using tools like DisplayFusion and wants to limit where the taskbar is positioned. They can also be used to make it look a bit more like a dock (non expanding for width) if you turn on rounded corners and use the overrideWidth value only.

It hasn't happened to me. At least, not yet.
I did an update check, and it says it's up to date.

Yeah it was odd. I usually get the Auto Check telling me there is a new version and then I get it from my account at Stardock (because auto update is always slow). I know it was the right installer because it stated so in my account.

Anyway, I just reinstalled it, no harm no foul

Yeah it’s certainly down (all day) but I am not sure that outside of checking for an update, tha it has anything to do with online status. I don’t think I’d use it if it did. I’d certainly be surprised.

See if disabling check for updates fixes your lag
