... but look what's hidden underneath the translucency of a jump list even though I have Desktop Icons turned off!!!

Then chances are it is IDM causing it.
Wait for the next crash dump.
Post it in an existing explorer.exe crash thread or create a new one to avoid sending this thread off topic.

Control Panel is gorgeous!

Lot of random Explorer crashes going on in this Build! Can't quite put my finger on it!

If you change some SAB settings, it seems to be a good idea to reboot or at least restart Explorer
Seems to be settling in.
Love the dark CP!

Also..., if you change some SAB settings, you probably have to reinstate any Toolbars you've created.

As I mentioned in another thread, a fresh install or changing settings, perhaps also due to other utilities installed, SAB requires re-instating Toolbars and a couple reboots to rid the system of strange anomalies...



... once it settles in, elements become pleasantly consistent...

I have a problem that my taskbar buttons are extremely wide.



When I turn off "Enhanced classic taskbar" and then enable it again, the button become even wider. I've tried to reinstall StartAllBack, but they remain at the same size. Restarting the PC doesn't help either. I'm using the latest version v3.3.1.

I think it has something to do when I switch screens. I have my main 3440x1440 screen, but also a LG C1 4k screen. I always display on one screen only due to GPU limitations. I think the problem started when one time I switched from displaying on my TV only to PC screen only.

A related issue is that now all my desktop icons aren't squares anymore like before, but rectangles. These icons remain rectangles even when I disable or even uninstall StartAllBack!



What can I do?

Out of curiosity, since Windows 11, StartAllBack, and Start 11 have been out for several months now, is there a recommendation on StartAllBack vs. Start11? Functionality, bugs/crashes, features,resource usage, etc.?

Using Open Shell on 11 , works very good in 10 , also in 11 ..............will keep it !

I haven't tried Start11 since last year but, I think I favor StartAllBack, it seems to emulate a more familiar UI and functionality.

I went ahead and purchased the multi-license option for StartAllBack. Admittedly, the Start Menu is a little too "retro" for me so I disabled it...I'll play a little with it to see if I want to use it. The main addition I'm looking for is simply to use the Windows 11 Start Menu but remove the "Recommended" Section and open it up for actual personalized start menu use. The transparent task bar is nice, and seems to look and work better than TranslucentTB, and there are a few other features I like too...the details bar for Explorer is a good one. Where does StartAllBack install and what processes can I look for to see how much resources (CPU, RAM, etc.) it uses. Thanks.

The author of StartIsBack / StartAllBack is a lot more sensitive towards his audience and what they are looking for than Stardock is , as far as I am concerned Stardock can keep their "Proprietary" software because it works with nothing else but their "Proprietary" software.

It resides in your AppData/Local folder, more or less as a standalone utility.

It doesn't use any resources, to speak of..., it calls upon resources that are already in use, just donning a different costume.

Hehe! One of the devs there asked me: "How did you get StartAllBack to work with WindowBlinds, that's not supposed to happen!"
I replied: "Sorry chief, it works in my Universe!"

Here's another thing a conscientious developer will consider...,
Expand Into Full View folders, been around since Windowsxxxx..., MS just seems to disregard things like this!!!
