Strange color behavior

Hello,

I experience a really strange color behavior, as you can see in the attached files. I opened windows explorer, then a Volume mixer window. In opening volume mixer I noticed a really strange yellow cast at the bottom of this window. The yellow cast changes / moves as I move the window. Then I clicked on the explorer and the yellow cast in Volume mixer disappeared.

My Dell 3421we is color calibrated and uniformity compensation is on. Color uniformity is just perfect so far and even with color compensation off, I never experienced such a cast in any software windows.

It looks like, Volume mixer window is deactivating the color uniformity of the monitor itself and even make it worst than it is. Where could this problem coming from ? It may not be a problem / bug but it's really strange and awful to see ...

Are you sure you don't have night light on? - Start > Settings > System > Display, Night Light on or off?

The only issue with that is the entire screen isn't in night mode.. just part of it is

How do you know??? And if you look at the setting there's a strength slider.

I'll await the OP before going further.

As seen in the pictures the volume mixer window has enabled the acrylic effect, if you see again the background color is blurred and translucent in the volume mixer window.

Night light is off, I'm sure ... and as bunnyj mentionned, night light on makes the whole screen more yellow but not as yellow as the volume mixer is.

I looked at the acrylic effect and again, shouldn't the acrylic effect cover the whole window ? Also, text is as clear in the yellow part as it's in the white part.

I just found that some people experience a bug where white turns to yellow. It's supposed to impact HDR monitor but mine is not a HDR. For people able to understand this bug, here's the link : Windows 11 new bug turns white to yellow!.

Could it be my problem ???

edit : I noticed that every window in settings is affected by this behavior.

I wanted to set night light on to see if this could change something and I found out that if I set transparency off, the color cast disappears, as you can see in the following screen captures. So it looks like a transparency bug somewhere ...

To me, such a transparency effect is good nothing, specially with this yellow ...


Can other people experience the same behavior ?

What type of monitor are you using? It looks like the old fashioned ones when they are packing up

a brand new Dell 3421we .... color calibrated with uniformity compensation on. The monitor colors are just perfect with a blank screen. No problem with monitor, I'm sure.

I found out ... the transparency option is far from transparency as I can understand this word. Window's transparency is more a color cast coming from the background screen. My background screen is Bing image of the day. The cast if coming from the background. This perfectly explains the color cast I'm having : top of the window is almost neutral and bottom is yellowish.

MiguelAngel11 had the right explanation, I just could not see this color cast coming from the background screen. Sorry MiguelAngel11 !
