This showed up after my recent update on Windows 11 26h2. Any idea what it is? Should I be concerned? Is anything needing fixing?

From PowerShell (as Admin):
Code:
Get-Partition | where { $_.AccessPaths -match 'cb62f3f1' } | fl

That should report which Disk Number, Partition Number, and what volume type for that volume.

Open a command promt and run this command:

mountvol

You should see output similar to this:

I suspect that you will see that this is a volume with no drive letter assigned to it.

Now, run the command below substituting the volume guid ID that you are seeing to get more detail like this:

EDIT: Note that the below command is a PowerShell command. Run from a PS prompt.

I found out when I resized my recovery partition to 1 GB that if it is 1 GB or larger it can show up in system restore.

So I resized it back to 900 MB and now it no longer shows in system restore.

I dunno how to feel about messing with that. I'd image it was initially that size for a reason.

I forgot to quote you. So the folder seems to be in relation to the recovery partition, but also I dunno what the correct course of action is.

You got a screen cap of this menu? I tried disk manager but theres no propties in the partitian. The recovery partition is tied to the c volume, so like are you telling me to disable system protection then re-enable it?

UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

Okay, so my next question would be how did my recovery partition grow in the first place? Should I be worries that some of my c drive has been robbed? Does partition resizing damage existing files?

In my case I manually enlarged my recover partition a few years back. Some Windows Updates were failing if the recovery partition was too small, for example this one in W10.....

It is really quite simple. If your recovery partition is too small then KB5034441 will fail to install every time. The absolute minimum size the recovery partition needs to be is 580MB, but if you're going to go to the trouble of enlarging it then you might as well go a bit bigger. I generally go for 800MB.
After 3 months since KB5034441 was released, it still won't install - Windows 10 Help Forums - post #231.

It got so bad that MS had to issue instructions for W10 and W11 on how to resize your recovery partition.

Microsoft said:
Microsoft has changed how it updates PCs that run the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE). WinRE will be updated using the monthly cumulative update.... This change starts on June 27, 2023, for the Windows 11, version 22H2 cumulative update.

Some PCs might not have a recovery partition that is large enough to complete this update. Because of this, the update for WinRE might fail. .... If that is the case, please follow the steps below to manually resize your recovery partition...

Under some circumstances Windows Update can enlarge the recovery partition itself. The recovery partition has to be immediately after the C: partition, and the C: partition must have enough free space that it can be shrunk a little to make room for a larger recovery partition.
