Windows 11 PRO 25H2 (OS Build 26200.6725)
Two programs transferred with no problems,, but a simple line of text will not, not even into a folder I created on the USB. An on-line search for help did not help. The text is about twenty uppercase letters and numbers; I could print it and then hope that i can enter the information, a program password, but I thought it would be easier and not subject to typing errors through using the USB and copying from it to the program. Sadly, trying to do that only caused frustration.

Help that will help me accomplish what I expected to be simple would be appreciated.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting you post, but I save snippets of text in text files. I use Notepad.

I do the same thing. @Not Myself, How are you saving the text? You can't just copy and paste text into A folder.

That could be the problem: My text was copied from the program into Word Perfect. I pondered about using a different program to save it in, but as I so rarely use any such, Notepad did not occur to me., and did not even know how to open it, having nearly always been sent to it from another program. I will figure that out and try it,and report my findings.

On-line instructions say you can, but that has not worked. Please see my reply to the first reply. Why what I read said it works, if it does not, just adds to my frustrations of the past few days, not all computer-related.

Maybe you can copy-paste text to the desktop or elsewhere, but not to a USB flash drive. Right-click on the folder you want to save the text and select New -> Text document. Then double-click to open it with Notepad, paste the text and save. It's so simple.

I'm still confused.

I haven't seen WordPerfect in many years. However, I'd expect it to have an option to save as unformatted. text. Just like MS Word.

Notepad is one of the apps pinned in the Start menu, at least it is for me. I can also launch it by scrolling in the Start menu, or by typing "notepad" into the search box.

You simply cannot copy plain text like it seems you're trying to do. You have to save the Text in a document of some type which then becomes a file with an extension. Then copy that file to another source like a USB.

I'm a computer enthusiast so have quite a few systems that I run. More like an advanced hobby.
Just create a text file, copy-paste what you need to remember and save. That's what I do. Put the text file in the USB or create it directly in there.

So I have finally figured out, thanks. As is all too common, on-line help for this just added to my accumulated frustrations about several matters all at once, such as the outside door that would not close after the contractors reinstalled it and left for the day, sigh.

I have not opened Notepad in some years, opened it late yesterday, left it open to figure it out today, as i had never seen it in its present incarnation.
