Solved The "Sleep" option is no longer available but was previously available

Hello all,
Until a day ago, I remember I used to choose "Sleep" option on the PC before logging off for the day. In last 8 hours I am noticing that the "sleep" option is entirely gone missing from the places where it used to be, or can be set.

Attaching windows information and screenshots to help with diagnosis.

PS: I also have the FOSS tool explorer patcher installed as well.

Please help me revert to that status quo again.

Thanks for replying. No. I didn't do one recently.
Since bios updates don't happen in background unlike windows ones, or they do nowadays?

Some have stated they have been pushed with windows updates, but I’m pretty sure you’d know of one had.
Did you disable modern standby?
You may want to skim find thread too:

Thank you. I skimmed it. It's all very new to me and I absolutely didn't do any of it - at least by myself.
I would know if I did any of those.
There was one windows update but IIRC it was weeks ago.

If you want to solve your issue, I highly suggest you do more than "skim" the post. There is a cause and fix in there which I'm sure may apply to you. Good luck.

Hi, sure I will go through it but like I said, I haven't done it. I have been running with sleep option present, from day one. This issue has literally sprung upon me.

Just tonight I encountered this. When I updated the graphics driver and a needed bios update, sleep showed up again. Don't know if this is your problem, but it worked for me.

Thanks. Gigabyte Control Centre and AMD adrenaline are both recommending updates. I will try what you proposed.

Sleep requires a display driver that's compatible, you won't have a Sleep option with the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter for example. The AMD Adrenaline update is likely to restore your Sleep option.

Appreciate the headup. I had pending updates from AMD and Gigabye. But running those and restarting the PC, changed the buttons somewhat, but didn't bring up the sleep option back (check screenshot with the original post)

I will also revisit the other linked thread to see if I can do anything from my side. But the bizarre thing is, I always had the sleep option enabled and chosen it less than 24 hours ago.

Thanks, I was hoping that it would be the last time I bothered anyone. But I am yet to get back the sleep option.

Hello Brink, thanks as always.
So, I followed the instructions linked above, and enabled the "sleep" option. Obligatory restart.

and in spite of this the sleep option is still not showing up.

Any other suggestions for me to try out?

run this command. If hibernate is enabled it will hibernate. If hibernate is disabled on your machine, it will only sleep. Post back if it works or not.

rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState 0,1,0

I'm actually confused at this point.

So, hibernate is disabled. But running the command puts it in hibernate/sleep, then clicking mouse to wake up, starts with the BIOS screen and then brings PC to wake state. The BIOS screen means the PC has gone to hibernate, no?

Thanks for this. This line of diagnosis yielded the following result. Seems something has disabled the modern standby. It's 100% not me in this case. What's even going on with windows 11 at this point. No one knows what the OS is doing, incl the OS.

I used Brink's tutorial for enabling modern standby and got this error.

The graphics adapter and drivers aren't showing any errors in the device manager panel.
Is there a sequence of steps to debug further, or fix this issue?

Your AMD dedicated driver icon is showing a different badge? Check the driver's properties.
