5th November 2023 – Update to 23H2 was showing as available so clicked on “Download and install” but got “Download error - 0x80246019”. Clicking on “Retry” gets the same error. See photo below.
6th November 2023: -
Current Windows 11 22H2, Build 22621.2506.
Research on elevenforum led me to install Enablement package KB5027397. See photo.
  • I have run the tuneup.bat file, which found corrupt files and repaired them.
  • Windows update “get latest updates as soon as they are available” is turned ON.
  • Windows update “Check for updates” no longer finds 23H2 as an available update?
I have seen where MS advise turning off security software for this update to 23H2 but one has not had to do that for previous windows updates so I don’t believe that advice. I can’t see Norton360 security suite preventing windows update from finding 23H2 on MS servers. I know it can stop suspicious downloads but I can't see that applying to windows updates.

I am in no rush to install 23H2 (so no need to advise me how to force install it) but I am perplexed as to how Windows found it yesterday but no longer finds it? Could the “Download error - 0x80246019” message have sent a communication back to MS to put a hold on downloading 23H2 to my computer?

I assume MS will make 23H2 available at some stage but has anyone else experienced this “Now you see it, now you don’t” for the 23H2 update? Just curious if it is a common issue.

Update (pun): - I thought I would check the OS version just now at 14:35 hours (because of laggy response below) and it now shows that 23H2 is now installed. It wasn't 23H2 at 12:00 hours. It was 22H2.

I did notice the computer seemed laggy (while I was editing this thread) at about 14:30 hours. It only lasted about one minute so perhaps the enablement package KB5027397 decided to update in the background without my input. Weird behaviour. Even more wierd is that I had turned OFF “get latest updates as soon as they are available” due to the failure to find 23H2.

I have been referring to my HP desktop computer. My DELL laptop did not have the same issue and the enablement package worked immediately on that machine with no problem.

Sorted now but FYI for others in case they have the same issue.

I know that this may seem backwards, but make sure that "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available" is turned OFF, then check for updates again. Let me know if that helps!

I don't have the Get the latest updates or whatever turned on and 23H2 did find it's way on my notebook.
I was reluctant but said, what the heck, I have a good backup. so I clicked on the download link and 15 minutes
latter I was in 23H2. I have read that MS will roll out 23h2 during the month of Nov. so, not every one will
get it at the same time but to your point, I haven't had any problems with new versions or builds "so far".
