Okay, time to fess up. I really am not the originator of the phrase: "Windows 11 Thing". (That honour goes to Spapakons or Cerebus, I believe.) The quote is succinct so I recall it precisely as it was typed: "I hate this Windows 11 thing". That's all folks. Nothing specific.

But... It inspired me to start a thread!

And my, what a thread it turned out to be!

I'm hoping everyone is enjoying their Windows 11 Thing, from TPM2 requirements to One Drive, to the wonderful updates we are getting. Myself, I still think Windows 7 Ultimate reigns regal over them all, but that's just my opinion. Nearly everyone has their favourite OS. Windows 11 nearly impressed me. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. I can gripe and complain about all the things that I don't like about Win11 but I'm pretty sure Windows isn't gonna change for little old me. If I want to stay in the game I have to be prepared to roll with the punches, so that's what I'm doing.
Perhaps one day I'll get my little yellow triangle problem sorted out or, perhaps it will be a permanent fixture, a constant reminder that being OCD isn't everything. At least it isn't affecting performance that I can tell, and it keeps me humble.

I don't hate the Windows 11 Thing. There are aspects about it that I find annoying. There are always going to be bumps in the road as we have seen with other Windows OS so none of this comes as a surprise. For me, so far so good but not so great. I'm still having fun with it and I still have a lot to learn. Anyway, it's time for me to go pull a UPS and change out some batteries.

It's really great to see so many contributing to this thread.

it will morph into the Windows 11 23h2 thing here shortly. Where everybody scrambles to get the update as soon as they possibly can, to then just disable all the new things like co-pilot and effectively go back to the the way it was before,

Well, there are plusses and minuses. My eldest is my son, but he's in his 30's and has his own family now. My youngest just turned 12.

I didn't continue with Insider Preview after Win11 came out but used to get that message on Win10. I did do any update available so never saw a problem. I seem to recall there may be an end time for the Win10 IP but pay attention to where I might have seen it.

It was never solved. I just abandoned the thread because it was enervating. Many people made a lot of good suggestions and folks here were very supportive. I really don't want to burden everyone with re-opening this can of worms because I know it can be frustrating. I think it's like someone here has already stated: My CPU simply isn't compliant. I don't really need Turbo Boost Technology to work on Win 11 anyway as my CPU is already clocked to 4.1 GHz and I don't need it to run any faster than it does. It works fine on Win 7. Wait... I'm actually logged in on my Win 7 right now. Here's a screen shot:

No matter what driver I use it won't function on Win 11 and that really annoyed me. Now I just don't care anymore. As far as I know there is no fix for this and I rather doubt Intel will be providing one. If there were a way I could permanently delete the entire thing from the device manager I would but no matter what I do Windows 11 always brings it back.

Thanks. I have several computers on hand, Win11 2x Pro 2x Home, Notebook and Desktop of each. Also several Win10 Notebooks and 2 Desktops, WinXP and Win7 and MS-DOS 6/WIn3.1 Notebook. Because none of my Win10 machines will properly run Win11 I got new Dell Vostro Notebook and Desktop with Win11 Pro, needed to learn Win11 against when clients get it. Later I was given a Notebook and Desktop, both HP, with Win11 Home for salvage, got them working except the Notebook has the red line and flashing screen at first bootup but power-off and reboot fixes it, works fine until next shutdown, will do a rebuild as time allows.

The only thing I really complain about this windows is feeling rushed. They could have taken some more time to polish things like Settings, or having a functional Start Menu, this thing we got is just a dumbed down Windows 7 Start Menu, you can't even right click a pinned item, because they removed the pinned items section from the right click menu... now it's completely useless and you need to right click on the "All apps" submenu to get it. (Or open the app and right click it on taskbar to get said pinned docs/actions)

And this only to return this back one day, like they did with task manager option on taskbar right click.

Why to remove useful things only to return them back? Beats me...

Microsoft should take their time to actually work an OS and adding useful tools... it's sad to see a company driven only by ads and AI stuff that clearly makes NOTHING to improve your productivity...

This Black Mirror series was so right in so many things...

There is no problem with Win-11 that has not been fixed, either by a script (thank you Brink) or by internal settings.
I'm amazed at the lack of computer expertise displayed by so many members of this forum (and others too). Even using "Search" seems to be beyond them.
One of the most aggravating statements I've read on this forum is, "my PC won't run Windows 11. It's too old" . BS! (you DO know what BS stands for, Right?) That statement is just 100% WRONG.

I've installed and am running Win-11/Pro/64 on PC's over a decade old. I know that's been discussed, because I've personally told how to do it several times myself.

And, JFYI, there is also a Windows 11, that's been stripped of all the MS crapola, and it's called simply, "Tiny 11".
I downloaded it in just a few minutes, burned it to a flash drive, using Rufus 4.0, and then installed it to a spare HD connected to my Main PC.
It's about 2GB lighter than the full MS Version. NO Cortana, NO One-Drive, NO, NO, NO. And many of the worthless Apps are gone too.
Just a nice clean OS, and it runs Great!
OH, did I forget to mention, it's FREE!

It's saddening, that the MS Fan Boys won't even look at something like that. It's a marvelous piece of programming.

That's why I always say my older computers won't PROPERLY run Win11, don't meet System Requirements. There's nearly always some way to trick/tweak Windows into doing what is desired.
