Unlink PC from Onedrive and Delete Files

I set up a new surface Laptop for one of my kids. We did a new install and not a restore. We did not sign into Onedrive. I checked the settings and it showed no PC linked. I went into windows explorer and clicked on the OneDrive folder and it started to download files. I paused it and went into Onedrive again and now saw the PC was linked and I then unlinked. For the files that did download, I deleted from the PC after unlinking onedrive.

Question is if the account links again during an update, will it view those deleted files as deleted and delete from Onedriive online or will Onedrive start from scratch and just download the files again? I just want to make sure that the files I deleted off the PC after unlinking Onedrive do not eventually get deleted off Onedrive if it links again.

thanks,

I tested this and if the folder is empty when you relink the computer, Onedrive just downloads all the files like a new install.

On relinking Onedrive will ask if you want to use the existing folder or a new folder to prevent merging files if that exiting folder was another account,

So deleting files from the local folder after unlinking does not impact the new sync on relinking the computer.
