When Win11 was released Oct. '21 I had no computers that would qualify, one from 2016 that was Win8 upgraded to Win10 so I get a new Notebook then in Apr. '22 got a new Desktop. Both had Pro. None of my old computers even had TPM although the 2016 had a socket for the module on the motherboard but could find only a 1.2 that would fit. I have 5 machines with Win11, 2 Pro and 3 Home, 1 Desktop and 1 Notebook [both from 2019] were given me for parts but I was able to fix them using parts I had salvaged. I have 2 Notebooks from 2014 that I've successfully used the single-file replacement to upgrade to Win11, made it through Patch Tuesday with no issues.
No and yes. I don't see it happing until the end EOL for Windows 11 or when an update wants to update the OS to a 24H2 build. It has already started for anyone wanting to update to a Windows Insider build that is on 24H2.
Feature Updates are only offered in Windows Update to supported devices. By definition, a supported device for W11 has a minimum of an 8th gen Intel CPU - and all of those will have the PopCnt instruction that 24H2 requires. The only machines that 24H2 could break are the unsupported devices that have used a workaround to install W11 and that are missing the PopCnt instruction - and unsupported devices are never offered Feature Updates anyway.
Only for a very few machines, those that are so old their CPU doesn't have SSE4.2 or SSE4A. The majority of my unsupported devices have CPUs that support the PopCnt instruction, even this humble Pentium B950 from 2011 can run the Insider 24H2 builds.

When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.
UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

The thing is that it has started and in time users will have to update their systems or be stuck on old technology. To be fair to MS, they are giving users a large window of opportunity to upgrade their computers.

My System Two is an unsupported laptop with a 1st gen i5 that has been running Windows 11 since launch in 2021. It has received every update through Windows Update that my supported System One has had, except for not being offered the Feature Updates. For the 21H2>22H2 update I used an in-place upgrade with an ISO and a workaround. For the 22H2>23H2 update I manually installed the enablement package, which doesn't need any workaround. It's on 22631.3155 now.....

IMHO I'd upgrade to Win 11. We don't know when or if Windows 12 will appear this year. It was the only question I asked MS Co=Pilot, which picked up an article from the Web that said late this year. But everybody has their opinion. No hint of public development t
I would stay on Windows 10 until end of life in Oct 25 then see if there is method to upgrade to Windows 11 or whatever version is around then. If you can't update the PC to the latest version of Windows after then then upgrade to a newer PC for security.
