Windows 11
Full disclosure. I made this machine a Dual-boot with Win 11 and Linux Mint. However, they are on separate m.2 drives, accessed through GRUB.

The machine was working fine whichever OS I was using. Eventually, I tried so set up a Kensington Keyboard capable USB dongle or Bluetooth. The intention was to use the dongle for LM, and Bluetooth for Win11. Anyway, after much diddling around, including trying the dongle on Windows, I've screwed something up with Windows 11. Sometimes the Delete key does not work no matter which keyboard or method of connection I use. Currently, I'm using a USB wired unit. Device manager shows problems in the USB controller. I deleted them and restarted, but they come back. I also sometimes get a window asking to insert a disk into USB drive D. I don't have drive D. I have Windows OS drive C, and Data Drive F. I assume this message is related?

please check the BIOS boot manager and see if any USB boot devices are there
you can then remove them if you are sure they are not required.

note.. be careful as there will be entries for both Windows and Linux there as well.
best of luck Steve ..

Thanks for the reply. Removing the Mint drive is a big project. This is a SFF box I built some months ago on an Asus Rog STRIX B850-I motherboard with H2O cooler. The Linux m.2 drive is under the motherboard. To access it would require complete disassembly. The cable and hose routing was a nightmare, so I's prefer not to do that. The Win drive is much easier access. Any other thoughts. There is a Windows update 25H2 available, do you think running that might fix the problem for Windows?

Linux nothing to do with USB error code on Windows 11 if it's faulty USB controller then you will have problem using USB ports on Linux and Windows 11 if you can use USB ports on Linux then problem Windows 11.

You shouldn't need to physically disconnect the linux drive.
Change boot order to Win OS, go to disk management and take the linux drive offline, then do your problem troubleshooting.
Reverse that when you have solved the issue.

Thanks. That's what had me confused. When the Wireless keyboard USB dongle did not work on either the Win or Linux, I assumed something wrong with the machine hardware. But then it didn't work on three other computers, so the problem was the Keyboard.

The object of Post 3,was to go through the process of elimination and identify the cause.Your "diddling" could have caused more corruption within the operating system, the nature and extent unknown.Going back to basics and using dism and sfc was to eliminate corruption, hopefully.
Once the system was returned to normal operation then reinstalling was to be done in turn.
To have a build which prohibits easy removal of drives is unusual.
Running dism and sfc is simple and straightforward and should remove corruption.

I appreciate your time and effort responding. It just isn't that simple. It is a Small Form Factor build. To access the Linux m.2 drive under the mobo will require removing the Video card It's PCIE adapter riser/cable, and much of the PSU cable routing. The below pic is the EASY access side. :giggle:

Can these commands be used any other way? Though I've been holding off, woul the update to 25H2 overwrite whatever it is I messed and possibly fix the problem?
