Yeah, 12 months ago there was no Canary of course. It worked back then, not tried it since.

As a user of StartAllBack, I'm looking for the day that it will give us the option to remove the Recommeded section. It may be something that new Windows users may find useful but not experienced users. I hate to break it to MS but most users are no longer in preschool.

I'm with @glasskuter on this - it is like whack-a-mole using tools like StartAllBack - they break too often, and even the latest blog admits that may happen. It is simply easier to just ignore the recommended text than faffing around fixing gui override tools every five minutes.

re: MS listening to users - this has to be one of the highest feedback / response feedbacks I have ever seen. MS are just being intransigent and intend to keep it - if they think renaming it to "for you" is an improvement, then that just proves how stupid they can be.

This sums it up - in other words MS are refusing to back down - MS only like positive feedback and ignore negative feedback when it does not suit their managements dictates. Unfortunately, nobody has the fluffy bits to challenge management!

The engineer response here pretty clearly demonstrates that for all the demand for 'feedback', Microsoft will only really take the feedback that aligns with their existing agenda. There's a clear ask here to *remove* the section entirely and allow for more pinned apps instead, and the response is just "hey we made it smaller!"

I refuse to believe these engineers are so dense that they just don't understand the ask, which begs the question of why there's such an obvious need to dig their heels in and stick to policies and practices that people clearly hate. What harm does it do to MS to go hey yeah, y'know what, that's a good idea, we should allow you to make your desktop function in ways that suit you where it's feasible to do so?

Knowing what I like and don't like I'm willing to take the risk. If StartAllBack or even the latest Canary Build fails me, I have my images to get me back in action. :-)

I have. The good thing is that it didn't take the programmer long to release an update to fix it. The way I look at it is that as a Canary Build user I'm going to encounter problems from time to time. Even if I don't use third party tweaking programs. Getting back to a working system is why I use several paid for imaging programs. Macrium is number 1 choice.

Actually they are still in preschool these are the places ms monitors they're easier to shape than us old fats
How else would you explain all the silly emoji's and sludge ms continues to add as features cripes last I saw they're going to add a Gallery entry on navigation pane lol

By the way I do use explorer patcher but only on normal builds
Had to roll back to a system image and update because I had the newer EP and it didn't work well with explorer 7 command bar change but an older EP version does work so go figure lol newest is not always best as usual

Yeah I don't need much in explorer hell everything on the silly win-11 menu bar is on the right click context menu lol
I mostly use 7 explorer bar for preview pane button on the top right not sure why they buried it :boom:

And..., it's not really about the look either, I think the UI is nice and clean, smooth looking..., I actually like it!

It's just the features and functionality that suck!

Basically, I want a normal Menu, right click menus and normal Taskbar features...

Yeah issue is right click is tough on a touch screen lol
So yeah it's the whole 1 mobile os horse.... getting in the way of real functionality.

Thanks so much for all of the responses to my original inquiry, it appears as though I'll just have to get used to seeing the recommended area appearing on the start menu as I'm thinking it really doesn't interfere that much with anything.

Hell start menu since win-8 is a desktop replacement and ms history keeps repeating to 11
I gut it completely and just use EP to do all apps, why be limited to what ms allows you can pin with silly icon nonsense lol

How is that a Windows 10 "all apps list". A W10 "all apps" list is in alphabetical order, with letters in between

All the entries are prefixed by an Alt character of one sort or another, so they all end up in the '&' category.

I don't need letters, I'm not in kindergarten! ;-)
