Using Macrium Reflect

I know what you mean, I'm tempted to buying this program as well but not sure how to backup and restore my system. Not sure if to backup my data using my NAS drives or cloud service.

That is normal. You can eliminate the option for withing Macrium; Other Tasks, Create bootable Rescue media, and click on remove boot menu.

You just have to decide where the partitions will be backed up, and how frequently the backup should be done. A key factor is having sufficient storage for at least a few backups.

Backup to NAS should be faster but cloud should be safer from a hardware failure. If the backups are done overnight then time should not be an issue.

I manually make an image back of my OS once a month before patch Tuesday or if major changes are planned to it. An image of the data partitions are made periodically, and a separate process is used to backup my active data (multiple media).

It would be wise. You can create a Windows boot option that you can choose instead of Windows as you boot up. This is on your C: volume. so if something is wrong with C:, and you can' get to the boot option screen, you would need a bootable USB rescue media to be able to restore a backup. So it is advisable to have both.

Yes - that is what it is supposed to do. I just reduce the time for selecting which option to 3 seconds before it chooses Windows.

Having the rescue media both on C: and USB could it create a conflict when repairing W11 from USB?

No. Not at all. Macrium just puts its boot files in C:\boot\macrium and adds a Macrium entry in the BCD. This has no impact on any repairs you may wish to do, whether using the Macrium recovery usb or a Windows install usb to perform repairs.

BTW I get a warning when attempting to create a rescue media on external drive.
The drive is empty. But on Property it shows some space is occupied, when click on clean disk it takes me to control panel uninstall programs?
Those programs are the same I have on C:
I used that HHD as primary internal drive in a previous computer.

You are attempting to create bootable Macrium rescue media on a 1TB external HDD. It's more usual to use a separate USB memory stick for the rescue media. Less than 1GB is needed, so it's a good use for any old smaller USBs that you may have.

You can make the Macrium rescue media on an external HDD if you really need to. The rescue media builder is not complaining that there's no space in the NTFS partition on your drive. It is complaining that the existing partition is using all of the space on the HDD and there's no room for it to create the Fat32 partition that it needs. You'd need to shrink the existing partition to leave at least 1GB of unallocated space so Macrium can create a second partition.

Did save Rescue Media on external HHD that contains also the System backup folder.
I separately manually saved my File & Folders in there too. (free version does not backup those)
I am good to go?

Sounds like it. The only thing remaining is to test that you can boot from your rescue media and can browse for, find and see the image. The ultimate test would be to restore it, but I'm not suggesting you try. The next best thing would be to select the image and verify it (in v7 Free that's on the 'Other actions...' menu). If you can verify it then there should be no reason it could not also be restored.

By the way, with Macrium installed on your PC you can double-click on a .mrimg file and mount it as a virtual drive (remember to tick the box to enable access to restricted folders). That enables you to explore it with File Explorer to retrieve individual files. The Free version does not, as you say, include Files and Folders backup. But if you have imaged the partition they are on, then you have already backed them up anyway.

Running v8 free. Backup was verified.
As files and folders are in there would a differential backup take care of changes/adding of files and folders?

BTW at booth this morning I had the external HHD plugged in and it booted on Macrium and all seems to be fine. So it appears that I am good to go.

Could you suggest an easy Tutorial, for dummy if possible?

The test I was suggesting is that you make sure you know how to boot from the rescue media, and to verify the image again while booted from the rescue media. This tests that a) your rescue media boots successfully, and b) that when so booted Reflect can read the whole of the image file. If it passes those tests, then you can be pretty certain that it would also be able to restore the image (plus you will have practised the steps required).

Yes it was verified as part of making the image. Also from whatever I construe from yours screenshot I probably reverified the same.
That's why I need a tutorial for dummies. Yours instruction are not at fault, just my bad...
I am not expecting you to spend all day as @zbook did in a unrelated matter.
Very thankful for what you gave so far, it already gave me more insights than I had before posting. I'll get there eventually eh eh.

The important thing is to test that you can boot the PC from the Macrium rescue media you made. Work out how to do this now while you can practice it calmly and safely. Most PCs have a one-time boot device menu if you press F12 at start up, check you manual and see how to boot yours from a usb drive.

The last thing you want is to find out that you don't know how to, or can't boot the recovery media when you are in a desperate panic that can only be fixed by doing a restore.
