Solved Virus on MOTO phone?

My wife has a MOTO phone ( some people on here have helped me set it up Thanks again for that), she tells me that some of her contacts have disappeared, and she had to put them back in. is there a way to check for a virus? if so how can i do that? and if she has a virus, can it be cleaned without reinstalling everything?

Malware is certainly a threat on mobile devices. I'm just guessing but assuming it's an android device? If yes it's possible but highly unlikely if they are only installing apps from the play store. Some malware does make it on to the play store but it's not that common.

Being an Android phone those suspect contacts may have been set to store in the cloud and so may be inaccessible under certain circumstances. I always store contacts in phone memory.

Thank you both, i asked her if she downloaded some apps, but she said no. i do know that she gives the phone to some kids that she takes care of to keep them occupied while driving. maybe they did something. anyways i will mark this as solved for now.
