Hi folks
Windows / file explorer doesn't seem to be able to handle even simple searches correctly -- I want to find any outlook.pst files on my computer. Surely ANY search facility on the planet should be able to look for a file name outlook.pst on the computer -- no special sort codes etc needed.

But Windows in its infinite wisdom obviously finds this task impossible. I'm surely not typing i the search argument wrong !!!

Try *.pst instead

Without the asterisk, my did the same... just searched for anything with pst in it.

But with the asterisk it did it correctly...

Done all that -- anyway found the file eventually by the old manual hard way -- !!!! perhaps I should have run search in admin mode -- seems silly if one has to do that as a normal user for your own data !!!!.

Well restoring from a backup 8 days old fixed things.
Still on 26300.9550 and FF 157.

Now I'm gonna make a new backup. :-)


New backup made. That was weird.
And yes, I tested thoroughly, before I made the backup.


That was like an Outer Limits episode. ^^



Just tested again, and after exporting FF bookmarks to F:\Bookmarks... PSP 7.04 remembers to save pics to the desktop.

When I did a search on .pst using voidtools Everything, it gave me just the .pst entries.

Your 9th word (voidtools) in your reply invalidates your answer to my question. I've no doubt that there are tools that can do this but my point was that at least on my system the basic search mechanism in File Explorer wasn't working as it was meant to. !!!!

I wouldn't expect much from an experimental preview (25H1?), but it appears it's good for a rant.
