Good morning.
I can't drag the icons into the taskbar, I'm not allowed in W11.
Is there a few tweaks?
Thank you very much

By default, you cannot drag and drop apps, files, or folders onto the Windows 11 taskbar to make quick shortcuts anymore. You can still right click on apps and choose to pin to taskbar. Also, you can no longer drag and drop files to an app shortcut on the taskbar. MS has said this feature will be brought back in a future update. There are 3rd party apps that accomplish this but since I am unfamiliar with them myself, I'll let others suggest the best one.

Nice tool, fixes the only real gripe I have with W11. But MajorGeeks' link to the author's site points to an earlier version, better to go direct to GitHub to get the latest release.

When the program is running you can click on one or mores files to select them, then while holding down the mouse button drag them and hover over the icon of a running program on the taskbar. The program's windor wil be restored and brought ti the front so that you can drop the files into it.

The program detects if you're currently pressing the Left or the Right Mouse Button and determines which icon on the taskbar you hover the mouse pointer on. If the cursor stays in the same area for definied number of milliseconds - it simulates the Win+T hotkey and arrow keys in order to restore the intended window

I thank you for the info.
Unfortunately it seems so complicated to me for such a simple feature.
I look forward to upcoming updates, otherwise I remain at W10 millionth build.

Yes, it's a complicated workaround to restore such a simple feature that was in all previous versions of Windows. But it's very simple to use in practice. You just download the small .exe, put it in a folder somewhere, then run it. From then on you can just forget about it. It will run at startup and always be there to provide the missing drag-and-drop functionality.

You may have a long wait for MS to restore this functionality in W11. There are signs in the Insider Dev channel that they may do so, but as W11 gets just one Feature Update a year it may not appear for our release version of W11 until October 2022.

I don't even want to think about how LONG that is in tech years.

Here's a GIF demonstrating the problem for File Explorer app pin.

Note that instead of drag-and-drop, you can right click on the folder and "Pin to quick access" which also pin's to the File Explorer icon in the taskbar.
