Solved webcam software to allow networked PC see the webcam on another PC on the same LAN?

Oops, the microsoft JDK just had a heart attack, said not responding, had to force shutdown Yawcam.
I let it send the report to MS

Yeah, the microsoft java 17 is causing problems that I did not see in the oracle version 8.
It has stopped responding at least 5 times, and has to be force closed.
I also dont understand Java versions, like why is there no newer than 8 if the program talks about ver 9 on the main java website?

Open JDK Platform Binary is not responding, is the message

OK SOLVED the issue, I am getting gmails now from yawcam.
gmail requires you to use an 'app password', if you follow this link,

then setup an app password for the app, which is in this case, Yawcam, and gmail will generate on for you to put into the field
So then what the Yawcam gmail setup page looks like is this

I looked at this some time ago when My late Mother was ill, so I needed to monitor her whilst she kept some amount of control of her life.

I now use a number of these at home as apart of my home security precautions

I find this does the job as good as any of the more conventional Web or Security setups but is more flexible easy to mount inside or out ( they have specific Outdoor units available)

I works with my Android phone but I believe also with Iphones, and I have a number at home now that allow me to monitor inside and out night, (includes IR lighting for Night use) and day, this also works from anywhere I have a phone signal - they are UPS powered and WiFI connected so are simple to use, can be set to record on activity and also sent alerts

For the cost they are selling for, from a well known maker I strongly recommend them

They can be setup to work with a number of Open source security PC apps , but I find It's easier to just use the Microsoft MY Phone App until the new Android sub system is fully working
Thanks

Brilliant -- great tip -- security here from "Uninvited guests" isn't usually a problem -- even in a country where just 2 murders a year is rare and gets the typical "Hang'em and Flog'em" brigade up in arms again (maybe most Icelanders would be natural "Daily Mail or "The Sun" readers" !!) these are great for Doorbell alerts, and to check for damage by weather, flying debris, or animals during bad weather etc. especially if one is away working elsewhere on site in another country. Great stuff.

Cheers

I just spent the last hour trying to get Yawcam running on a win 10 64 bit PC. I tried installing Java 8, 9, 17.
I first installed Java 9, then tried to install Yawcam, and it complained no java was on the PC. So I installed 8 and uninstalled 9.
Yawcam installed, but starts loading and just silently quits, dead. I then tried java 17, same thing. Why is this?
Why did Yawcam think Java was not installed the first time I tried to install it.

Is the Java install somehow totally hosed, even after multiple installs and uninstalls? I even used their official Java uninstaller from the Java website.
Very frustrating.

That PC works very well, should not be anything wrong with it. Is the Java installer screwing with the PATH variable improperly?

Does someone have a link to a JAVA written program I can test on the PC?

Bother this, finally find something that could work, and it only works on my win 11 PC.
I posted the issue on 10 forums, JAVA does not have a great reputation does it.

I found Contacam, and so far it is working on my win11 test PC
It does email notify, motion detection, a web server to view live feeds on phone or PC, seems to have everything that Yawcam had, and does not use JAVA
Really nice so far
Windows Search: conta cam

Working well with ContaCam. I have it set to send me an animated gif to my gmail, size 240x132

Gmail filers it into a contacam label (folder)
And I created a filter to forward the motion notify as MMS to my phone from gmail
I started with just SMS, but thought why not include the video, so switched to MMS
So I get a video message to the phone with the video of the motion

If I want to see more, I go to the web server page, and can view live streaming, recordings and delete them also.

One thing would like to see is a link to the webserver page in the MMS on the phone, but dont see how I can add text to a forwarding MMS from gmail to do that. ContaCam does not send that link yet that I have figured out.

Ive tried Yawcam software is average only its free.

If you want no hassle setup buy TPlink camera which is very cheap

Tplink is using Tapo software. Easy to connect even if your in different country just need internet only. Full motion detection. huge camera angle capture

For me.

Yawcam its 2/10
TPlink Tapo 8/10

Contacam uses an apache web server, so to view your live stream recording, and delete them too, you go to your WAN IP that is your IP address on the web, and append the port you opened in the router, my port is 8081, and can set a password-username on the web server.
so then
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8081, from a phone or PC etc,,, and up pops the stream-, saved videos etc..

The recordings are stored on your PC, but they can be FTP'd to some place automatically. I also see in the gmails, gmail gives me an option to send the videos to google photos, google drive or download to the PC.
And Contacam has an on event, can run program, etc...

I like that i can go to that IP:port, and view the scene continually live stream from say my phone from the store, boat, wherever.
It also records the audio, which yawcam did not do.

It uses my webcam which I have had no use for till now, without me having to buy new hardware, which is a big plus,
So much of the time, my hardware becomes useless, so gets wasted.
It also works with RTSP IP cameras.

It can also run as a windows service, it works minimized.
A downside is if your PC shuts off or crashes.
It can send an email if you camera fails.

It is fully functional forever, no time limit without paying the $10 donation ware cost.
It does have a small message bar on the very lower right of the videos if your not paying, but the program so far is the best I have seen for $10

My plan is to use it with my win10 media center PC, which is always on and right close to the front door. I can setup the usb web cam right there.

I understand that the question probably is no longer relevant, but I accidentally found this thread and I think know the simplest solution for this request (hope it will be useful for someone).

So you can install the Streamster app on both computers, launch the app with the same credentials and just run stream to the cloud. On Computer 2 you will be able to see the preview from the Computer 1 webcam no matter if they're on the same LAN or not. In addition, you can watch the stream preview on iOS/Android mobile devices. The solution is totally free and very easy to set up.

I've probably misunderstood something here -- but why not --especially if it's on the same lan just use RDP to logon to the remote computer and use its hardware. You don't say whether you want to access the webcam as a video stream etc etc so I can;t see what's wrong with the RDP solution.

Cheers
