Weird Mouse Problem

Suddenly started a couple weeks ago. System set on "high performance" power plan. All "timers" disabled. No sleep or hibernation modes enabled, screen always on. Removed all mouse and HID devices and reinstalled by refresh. Standard Logitech mouse. NOTHING CHANGED.

Here's what happens:
When PC sits unused for a while and I come back to it NO ICONS on the desktop will "click" (ie. when you mouse over them or left click, them they don't "light up" just no response) yet start menu and task bar all respond normall. Eventually, after left clicking a dozen or so times the desktop icons react normally and stay OK untill I let it "sit idle" for 10 or so minutes.

Any thoughts?

Even though your system is set to high performance, some devices still go to sleep.
Go to your devices and look under Bluetooth (if it is a Bluetooth mouse) and Universal Bus Controllers.
Then under system devices look for names ending in A328 & A368.
Right click properties/power management tab should bring you to unclick the option 'Allow the computer to turn off...' .
Please note that this is with some Intel components, but you get the idea.

Thank you ... going to check that now, HOWEVER while desktop icons and shortcuts don't respond until they "wake up" the task bar and start menu icons all do so they aren't "sleeping" it's ONLY desktop icons and shortcuts that need to be awaken and this just started a couple weeks ago.

In the light of a weird one, encountered one on a client's Notebook yesterday, mouse jumping all over the place. Turned out with the AC adapter unplugged the 'repair' was simply holding down the power button for the usual 8-10 second to fully turn the machine off. The battery on that model is the newer not-easily removed type, hazard of newer lighter thinner construction. One of the first things I try is removing all power and starting over.

@RetiredInFl

I see, so the mouse is not sleeping - some Bluetooth are sometimes very slow to get going.
This is a little odd as it seems related to desktop objects only, not explorer itself.
Of course, a right click of the mouse and select refresh on the desktop should bring it all to life,
but it is not normal.

@OAT Well, I "unchecked" every last 'Allow the computer to turn off...' I could find in device mgr (after making a full system backup :) ) and went out for an hour and the problem is the same.

Now this is interesting ..... just noticed, exact same problem on my laptop which is always on and 99% used to monitor my 2 Arlo security cams. I guess this obviously this has something to do with either a system update or a common software update. Laptop doesn't have much software on it so I guess I'll start from there, Gotta either be Acronis backup, Bitdefender or a Windows update of some sort. Those are the only common items.

BTW, the mouse isn't bluetooth, it uses one of those USB receivers. IIt's a (at least 5yr old) Logitech M705.

I've seen this problem on my pc and another one. Both are using Logitech mice. I find that sometimes the icons won't work for a few seconds but the taskbar is fine. Definitely a weird one. Both PCs are using the Powerplay charging mat.

An issue with the G Hub software maybe?

Exactly the problem. Makes me feel batter I'm not alone!! :D Sorry, but what is "G HUB" ? Never mind, I Googled it. :D I'm not using any Logitech software just native Win drivers. Had this mouse for MANY years without issue. I like it for the long lasting battery. I think I have changed the battery once in 5+ years. No charging mats involved ..... just plugged direct.

Sounds like a driver issue with Logitech mice then, it's only started recently

LOL, been there done that. 30+ years dealing with this stuff taught me the first thing is the reboot then the power cycle !!

Well, just ran to the supermarket and bought an $8 Microsoft mouse, same problem so it isn't Logitech mouse drivers (I made sure there were no Logitech drivers left.

Didn't work either. My bet is it's some software that was updated recently since it happens on PC and Laptop no matter what brand mouse I use and my educated guess is Acronis backup software since that was the only "major" updates (other than WIN11 updates) that are on both PC's. The laptop has virtually nothing other than "stock" apps and Acronis and Bitdefender and Chrome. Guess I will have to uninstall Acronis on the laptop and see what happens.

Can't RIGHT CLICK OR LEFT CLICK ANY desktop icon unless I open ANY app first from taskbar or the start menu which can be "clicked" normally.

WOW! I feel so blessed!
I've got Win 11/Pro/64 running on three different PC's (one is an old HP Laptop) and I've never had any problems with any of my mouses.
The two desktops, use corded mice, and the one laptop uses a WiFi mouse, with it's own little Transceiver. No problems.
All my mice are Brand X, no big names.
For a while, I was even using an old PS2 mouse, with a Ball! (on the laptop) It worked fine, even being connected via a PS2 to USB adapter.
Win-11 has been really stable for me.
