Hi. Little rant here. Honestly I don't.get it. If you download and install latest Intel Chipset drivers package and install it, then Windows Update will overwrite then with older versions, specially true for older chipsets. The whole thing is an utter mess. AMD Chipset package works a lot better without bullshit with dates and such.

What's your approach here?.

We have you covered... this will in most cases, stop MS drivers from automatically installing.
They will still be available for optional install.

    Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
I'm afraid Intel do a poor job of explaining their driver infrastructure/stack and which drivers are which.

It is possible to stop windows update downloading drivers via Group Policy.

This is the first thing I do with a fresh windows install before connecting to the internet and then install my preferred latest drivers

Local Group Policy Editor

Open gpedit.msc

Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Update, Manage updates offered from Windows Update
Do not include drivers with Windows Update.
Set this to "Enabled"
Click on OK.
