Minority maybe, but not alone. I barely give a thought to what an OS looks like. Work with my hardware, perform well, and run my applications (which is where the real work is done). That's all I ask of an OS.

Those who are happy rarely post to say all is fine.

It is too easy to get a jaundiced view from the vocal minority. We see that in all walks of life these days.

I don't see where Windows 11 being rock solid has anything to do with the cosmetics of the OS. The post is about the Start Menu getting changed when Windows is updated and not about the OS itself.

Odd. Once I disable Defender, I get 50% responsiveness back, once I disable everything else, I get 95%. :unsure:

I do agree wth you and the others that feel Windows 11 is ROCK Solid. I will even go as saying it's the best OS MS has ever released. I have to admit that I do use Power Start Menu to hide the Recommended section and SAB to move the Taskbar to the top.

I see that Power Start Menu is in the Microsoft Store! It's been vetted by Microsoft and will always be automatically kept up to date.

Not sure why any of those things are useful, plus, some of those entries aren’t Windows native.

The only thing missing from my taskbar (in your image) is the “toolbars” option, which I always found useless unless I wanted to quickly hide onscreen keyboard and some other crap that was so painfully useless, I forget what it was 😃

The image on the left, I certainly don’t only get those two options.

Re the ongoing changes to the taskbar in Windows 11 it has never bothered me. All I use the taskbar for is to have nearly 30 commonly used apps pinned. The start menu only gets used if I want to use the search box to find something. I never used those toolbars that used to available in Windows 10 or earlier now removed in 11.

And I use keyboard shortcuts frequently.
