Win11& MS Office 2003 issue

Recently downloaded Win 11& everything seemed to work OK, but a few issues cropped up. I have a version of MS Office a complete version I have had for years from maybe Win5 or 7 & onto Win 10 with no issues. After the download it worked well but the Save as window would open on the whole screen where it was reduced by me many years ago. Yet it would still save but now it will open full screen but just spin & not save anything in Word or Excel. Is this older program incompatible with Win 11. I was perfectly happy with Win 7 but did move to Win 10 but did not really want to go to Win11 but got an update notice & did not look carefully & it, then to my surprise after completion I had moved to Win 11. In addition I notice at times when typing if I make a mis- type & go to fix it, it will start removing letters as I advance the space bar or start typing to correct the word. Now if I cut it to a new blank Word doc it will most often be OK but at times it will start the same thing. Do I have a corrupt copy of the program also?

So is there a fix to this issue or is the great MS now going to require me to get a newer version of MS Office. I didn’t change to a newer version as the 2003 office has meet my needs & more & I liked it. Any fix to the issue other than go back to Win10 or try reloading Win 11??

Without knowing the particulars, my guess is, if Office is installed properly and activated, yet, is out of support and not receiving updates, you're probably experiencing irreparable glitches that you have no control over.
It might be prudent to look into acquiring a newer version of Office.

You are correct. Office 2003 worked correctly up to and including Windows 11-23h2, However 24h2 and 25h2 removed the compatibility shims from Windows 11. This has caused exactly the issues are reported.

Your lead "If off the rails" etc, that exactly describes me daily, Thank you for the comprehensive reply as it really solves the question. I suspected Win11 as the culprit but not knowing how or why but you have clearly clarified that for me. An old saying around for eon's "if if ain't broke don't fix it" which seems that it is something MS has evidently never heard of. Win5 was great, Win7 better& wIN10 ok but they could have stopped there but they wouldn't be able to line their pockets by doing with that. I bought a copy of Office 2003 when it came out as I had used MS Office since 95 I think & liked the ease of use, so I have stuck with it for all this time. I never did anything real fancy so I didn't or don't need a whole bunch of fancy things just write letters or do small Excel record keeping so why go beyond Office 2003, but now!
I Did not want to go to Win 11 period & was going to pay MS for another year but as I said in a moment of lack of attention I thought the update was for Win10 even though I had heard they wouldn't be doing any more & I hit the OK key, now I have my PC set to not allow a download unless I say yes. Bingo right after it was done I thought they had done a nice job of updating Win10 but soon found out the truth, that's not Win10 anymore. Now it all started out good but turned sour quickly. I remember the update you mentioned & when it came thru so I hit OK, then everything turned to **** after that. . My mouse a Logitech M720 (I like) is not doing some things it should like when I want try to cut something I try to hi lite it but it is now very difficult to even get that done, Was not before. So if I don't go to Office 10 or 16 as I don't need all the fancy bobbles at 82 retired 17yrs ago what would be your best advice be. I have thought I could reformat my HD & completely start over but if I don't allow it to update Win11 ongoing will that likely cause me trouble down the road . I do have AVG premium to protect my system or would that be enough to keep out the bad guys from gaining access to my system info like my investments I access on line although they have safeguard's like 2 step authentication. Sir, nothing lasts forever, especially when it comes to technology. It's changing at unprecedented rates. You are very fortunate to have been able to use that old 32bit software as long as you have. For the way you describe your use of office applications, I suggest you do what I described in my above post.
Uninstall Ofc2003 using Revo Uninstaller, scanning for & removing all leftover remnants. Restart, and give LibreOffice a try. It's not all that different than MS Office so it's learning curve should be manageable for you. It does include writer and spreadsheet apps. It can open any .doc or .xls file you have.
(If it does not do so automatically, it's only a matter of right clicking on a file, select open with, choose the OpenOffice app from the list, select always)

Update to the original post. Still having issues with My Office 2003 so with the advice I received I was looking to get office 2016 & found this. Now MS has a "FIX" for only $99 a year (oh yeah) I can get 365, really helpful MS. Any other ideas.
