Hello! I was messing around in the Registry in an attempt to "hide" the Battery icon and I guess I screwed up Quick Settings and now left-clicking doesn't work. Everything else is fine, left-clicking on Date and Time, right-clicking for Task Manager, even right-clicking on the Network and Sound icons works. I'm not a computer administrator and I don't remember how I managed to change "something" without Quick Settings working. I wanted to get more space on the Task Bar because I'm using 768p resolution. I've had this since version 23H2, after updating to 25H2, I thought it would be fixed but the same error remained. I tried this: Get-AppxPackage *windows.immersivecontrolpanel* | Reset-AppxPackage but it didn't help. There's nothing with "Hide" inside this: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer. Also, not in this section: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

I don't understand why you don't just use the dialogs that appear when you put each of these shortcuts into the File explorer address bar in turn. I've attached a zipped copy of each shortcut.

Turn system icons on or off
explorer.exe shell:::{05d7b0f4-2121-4eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9}\SystemIcons
Turn system icons on or off.webp

and / or

Select which icons and notns appear on the taskbar
explorer.exe shell:::{05d7b0f4-2121-4eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9}
Select which icons and notns appaear on the taskbar.webp

Welcome to ElevenForum.

It's really worth making time to browse through the ElevenForum Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every ElevenForum page [within the Tutorials dropdown list].
- At the foot of the ElevenForum Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.
- I download a new copy each month.
- By downloading it as a spreadsheet I can benefit from Excel's excellent filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.
- ElevenForum tutorials are also listed at Tutorials and there's a shortcut to that at the top of every page.

You can search ElevenForum using the search box in the top-right corner of all ElevenForum webpages or using Advanced Search - ElevenForum
- You can also search ElevenForum threads in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:elevenforum.com after your search term. For example,
Taskbar setup site:elevenforum.com
- [This is what the search box in the top-right corner of ElevenForum webpages does automatically]

Open a Notepad file - copy paste the following:

Code:
REG DELETE "HKCU\Control Panel\Quick Actions" /F
taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
start explorer.exe

Save as iScrewedUp.bat

Run it and see if that helps. If not, run PowerShell (as Admin) - and run the next command:

Code:
Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost | ForEach-Object { Add-AppxPackage -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml" -DisableDevelopmentMode }
Get-AppxPackage *windows.immersivecontrolpanel* | Reset-AppxPackage

If that's not good enough either, you could always try an in-place upgrade/repair:

That will preserve your installed apps and such.

When you "mess around" in the registry do you not know to either backup the registry, export the key you're "messing" with, or at the very least, keep record of the changes you make so that your changes can be undone?

What @Try3 said is the correct answer. If any of those settings are grayed out and you're unable to change them (it may say managed by your organization), backup your personal files, create another user account, and copy the files into it.. I don't think an in-place upgrade will help you if your registry changes were made in HKCU. An in-place upgrade does not undo any registry change made to the user account.
