Windows 11 Annoyances

That doesn't mean one of the apps you have is not throwing an incompatibility with Windows 11 that was not present in Windows 10.

I also upgraded from Win10 21H1 build 19043.1081 to Windows 11, first to the leak, then reverted to 19043.1081 and upgraded via Windows update.

So, I though "Well, maybe my stock system is set up in a way that this doesn't manifest" - so I installed Win 11 in a VM and only installed Firefox and Chrome. All three, Fx, Chrome and Edge, sync simultaneously.

Do you sync then to the same Email Address?

Actually, no, all the Edge profiles use my Microsoft accounts, and Chrome profiles use Google accounts, and Firefox uses it's own Firefox sync accounts, which I've used my Google email addresses for.

I need to test that in the VM to see if it breaks - if it does, that is a problem, for sure.

But - even then, they use completely different servers and logins, so using the same email address for both should not affect each other - that'd be like saying logging in to one bank using a particular email address breaks a login to another bank using the same email address. This should not happen to begin with.

But I'll still try it out.

So since I had nothing better to do and I also heard that there will not be a CU for 11 this week (???) I dounloaded 20000.11 from the dump and performed an Repair Install. I now have EDGE synced and Firefox synced but I did removed all of the Bookmarks in Firefox from Edge. So all is right in the world at least the Win 11 World. Thanks Johnlgalt and Bunny for your help.

My first browser was Netscape. I bought it at a software store in preparation of subscribing to my first ISP. At the time I was on Prodigy. Turns out I didn't have to buy it. They sent me a disk that had everything I needed on it and already setup. I just needed to install it. The good old dial-up days.

I loved Netscape and I used it when I got on the internet. My first ISP was AOL then I got a better one. Funny bit.. when I got online I got onto a Usenet group covering COBOL and I ran into a guy that worked for my company as a consultant. He worked on the same floor I did and on a project that I had contact with. So wild.. good old days

Mine was Mosaic.

Often turned off the images, because of the slow loading at my employer. (Not dialup.) They may have had a 1Mbps connection to the Internet to serve all users. Hot stuff in 1993.

My annoyance is that VPNs don't work properly.
Both Nordlynx Tunnel and the TUN of Surfshark VPN are disabled in the Device Manager and their respective wireguard connections don't work !
However their Open VPN works and I am able to connect.
Complaints to the VPNs elicit response that Windows 11 is still not yet released OS and until it is released officially they are helpless !

That was my biggest annoyance along with the fact that the clock so damb small I couldnt see it. I then downloaded and used a desktop widget for the time which was Ghot's suggestion and worked well until I tried DisplayFusion to which I have had a license for over ten years. I set my taskbar to auto hide then set the DF taskbar to show on all screens. This enabled me to customise the clock at the size I want and thus took away that annoyance.
I am not sure if the free version of DF allows for the taskbar to be customised but if anyone is interested worth a try.

My First was AOL for about a week then MSN and shortly after that I started with Phoenix which became Firebird then became Firefox and I have been using it ever since.

My first was a dumb terminal text based browser based on the new html and http. We participated in testing it and used it for sharing physics and computing docs. Then the first graphical Mosaic browser that later morphed into Netscape. Then internet explorer and Firefox. Started with AOL too. Think I had the earlest implementation of wireless in my home. It was some proprietary hardware and protocol, but I could sit on the can with my big block of an IBM laptop and work.

Right click requires you to press Shift + F10 to see all options. i would like to see the Send To option. I tried the Windows 10 Forum registry fix but that didn't work.

How to remove the above nag screen?

Right clicking the start menu in the taskbar pops up a list of items (including the taskbar). This list is sometimes stubbornly persistent, and you have to click on the Start menu taskbar icon to get rid f it if you have not selected anyhting on it. Also, if I right click on it to open it, it open it with the taskbar set to auto-hide, it first opens to a position above the taskbar, then when the taskbar autohides, it shifts down. This happens fast enough that you can end up selecting the wrong item on the list. It should pop up above the taskbar and stay there.

Your last issue is fixed in 22000.100.

Clicking on the Taskbar when either Start or Search is open will now make them dismiss.

I have 2 complaints with Win 11.
1. If I remove the icon from the taskbar for the file explorer and add one I made from the explorer.exe with opening to C:\, it changes it back to opening this PC if I put it on the task bar. Under win 7 and 10 you could make it open to C:\ but no longer with 11?? Or maybe, I am just not trying hard enough to figure it out?
2. If I put the mouse cursor over an icon, the description shows up and I can no longer open the link until I take the cursor away and go back to the icon quickly. I am sure there must be a way to fix this but I guess I am getting too old to figure it out?

Any help would be appreciated :)

I had to reinstall 22000.100 today. A real annoyance now after reinstall is extreme slow internal network connections. My home network should be / is gigabit network, yet transfer speeds are extremely slow. Here's an example, creating a Macrium Reflect image backup on my NAS just now:
